I've never heard of such a thing! According to the internet, the duck hiding was started in 2018 by a 10 or 11-year-old girl named Abby Davis to bring a smile to others. Katems75 Posted June 15, 2023 #27 Share Posted June 15, 2023 (edited) Oh this is interesting...I learned about duck hide and seek on my second cruise back in May. It was on RC and we found at least 14 ducks. It was super fun and I'm a little disappointed to hear so few are found on Princess ships. (I am here as my family is considering an Alaskan cruise and I was advised Princess is best for that). On RC the ducks we found all said to NOT hide in pool areas (no pools, no casino, no bars, no shops). Love the duck Christmas tree!!! My mom had so much fun with this phenomenon that this weekend I will be hiding ducks in her plants on her front steps. When she goes to water them and finds them I just know it will make her day. 🙂 Edited June 15, 2023 by Katems75

sirclean Posted June 16, 2023 Author #31 Share Posted June 16, 2023 Another hint for future duck hiders.... I started this thread, and most of the ducks I found were above me.... Im 6'3", and most were at or above my eye level. One was in an elevator, the others were on top of hand sanitizers, a fire alarm, or above the elevator signs. IF you want them to be found by kids, place them lower, where kids can reach them (or tall, fat, old people, like me, wont be able to bend over to get them!) {And I CAN bend over.... I just have problems straightening back up!!-- Getting old aint for the young!!}

Rare Haljo1935 Posted June 16, 2023 #33 Share Posted June 16, 2023 Feb Nieuw Amsterdam saw a guy with the cutest little tiny duck, it was covered in red hearts (we were on Feb 5-19 so Valentine's cruise). He was talking about how the craziest thing had happened in the elevator - looked up, saw this yellow thing, reached up to see what it was...blah, blah... He was smiling - you could tell he was so thrilled but trying to play it cool. He asked if we thought it was ok for him to keep it or if someone lost it. He didn't think it was lost since it was above his head, but just couldn't understand how/why a duck would be in the elevator. So cute. 🤭 Because it was the cutest duck, I wanted to take it and say "ooh, look - I found a duck!" But I resisted and instead explained to him about hiding/finding ducks on ships. And I'd already found one myself. Is it in keeping with the spirit of the game to trade one you find? Does that still count? 🤭

Bgwest Posted June 16, 2023 #35 Share Posted June 16, 2023 (edited) We keep a few handy and don’t hide them. These we give (with parent’s permission) directly to the young kids we see on board. This always elicits a big smile. From both child and parent.😃😃 Edited June 16, 2023 by Bgwest

Rare CynCyn Posted June 16, 2023 #37 Share Posted June 16, 2023 My niece found 9 on Discovery Princess. We hid 20. I think she liked hiding them better than finding them. When we would hide them she always rewarded the people who washed their hands in the buffet with ducks-haha!
