StLouisCruisers Posted June 18, 2023 #1 Share Posted June 18, 2023 For a cruise on the Zuiderdam that we are checking out, we'd like to have an oceanview on deck 1. However I can see quite a few hazards noise-wise on that class ship. One that's available is under the casino. 1026. Others that are available are under Rolling Stone Lounge and Billboard Onboard. We're also trying to avoid adjoining cabins. I'm assuming the casino is carpeted but what about noise from slot machines, etc.? Does anyone know what the noise level is like in cat. D 1026 on Zuiderdam? This will be our first time on this ship. Also, how late is the casino open?
AKJonesy Posted June 18, 2023 #2 Share Posted June 18, 2023 You asked this on a different thread. IMO it's too close to the World Stage and you will probably hear the bass noise coming from there when there are shows. I would not book under the casino. I haven't been under the casino but I would not. IMHO.
RuthC Posted June 18, 2023 #3 Share Posted June 18, 2023 I just answered where you asked in another thread. I did forget to mention, though, that there is nothing wrong with the connecting cabins. The only time I ever heard anything when I was in one of those, was when the woman in the next cabin was having a total meltdown at the top of her lungs. You would have heard her through a solid wall, or from two cabins away in the passageway, too.
crystalspin Posted June 18, 2023 #4 Share Posted June 18, 2023 It was me who suggested StLouis start a new thread, since the question was not about Old Vs New ships and I didn't know how many were still following that thread! Sorry for the repetition to those of you who were.

That evening we realized we were under the BB King Blues Lounge , The music while quite good prevented my wife from being able to sleep. Lucky for us , customer service folks were able to locate us to a quiet cabin the next day. We were fortunate that it was available, the crew on the Zuiderdam were extremely helpful getting this situation resolved for us.
crystalspin Posted June 18, 2023 #6 Share Posted June 18, 2023 @StLouisCruisers Having examined the deck plan for Deck 2, I agree with @RuthC -- if there are ANY Main Deck OV's on the starboard side aft of the mid-elevators, they will be quieter than any you mention -- even if they happen to be connecting cabins. There are some offices just aft of the mid-ship elevators, then a few cabins before the aft elevators on both sides. What I was referring to were the starboard cabins from half-way down the passageway to the mid-ship elevators. Those are fairly quiet. The only time those become crowded/noisy are when shore excursions are meeting in the show lounge, and entrance is on starboard side. People are heading that way in droves, and coming out of your cabin to head aft is like swimming upstream. But port side is worse, when the excursion groups are dismissed! Then, you can't get out of your cabin at all!
