Any can't miss shows? Any that are worth skipping? Our itinerary includes: Night 1 - Intimate Broadway Cabaret Night 2 - Celebrity Showtime: Anne Steele Night 3 - Celebrity Showtime: Topper Night 4 - Celebrity Showtime: John Accardo Night 5 - Celebrity Showtime: Jeff Shaw Night 6 - Life Thanks so much! CaroleSS Posted August 15, 2023 #2 Share Posted August 15, 2023 I'll be honest....we have been on the Equinox 4 times in 5 years and Topper was on every sailing. Enough with Topper, was ok the first 2 times, but I can't imagine why it has remained on the ship for 5 years! Get a new show!
wrk2cruise Posted August 15, 2023 #3 Share Posted August 15, 2023 There's no way the entertainment slate in the theater is set this far in advance. The guest entertainers are rarely known very far in advance. The 2 production shows Topper and Life stay on the ship for at least 5 years. Intimate Broadway Cabaret is the production singers just singing Broadway tunes. They started this after the restart as I'm sure it's cheaper than bringing on another act. CaroleSS Posted August 15, 2023 #4 Share Posted August 15, 2023 5 years is a loooong time - it steers us away from the ship so we can see other shows. Just another cost cutting measure from X. <heavy sigh>
wrk2cruise Posted August 15, 2023 #5 Share Posted August 15, 2023 I've been sailing Celebrity for 20 years, the longevity of production shows has consistently been around 5 years. The real cost cutting I've seen lately is having guest performers perform shows on multiple nights. Sometimes their second show seems to be less "polished".
Rare MrBill923 Posted August 15, 2023 #6 Share Posted August 15, 2023 Topper was confusing. Time to move on from that show.

We've done a couple of behind the scenes tours on both Royal and Celebrity and I remember the discussion of production shows. They install new shows during major renovations/dry docks apparently. So about 5 years is the norm. Probably all cruise lines. Others like it, but we’ve never successfully made it through Topper…
CruiseCrew123 Posted August 15, 2023 #8 Share Posted August 15, 2023 Topper is just weird and a bit unsettling!
Rare NutsAboutGolf Posted August 15, 2023 #9 Share Posted August 15, 2023 Go to every show, try and stay for at least 10mins and if you don't like it, leave

Their latest strategy is replacing live acts with DJs play top 40 music in the past decade
Rare hcat Posted August 15, 2023 #11 Share Posted August 15, 2023 shows on E class ships are excellent..wonder why there's such a big diff with the other ships. ? Good solo/ group acts are very hit or miss..
