kessdarln Posted September 27, 2023 #1 Share Posted September 27, 2023 At Royal Navel Dockyard, which side on Getaway, Escape, Prima will get morning sun and afternoon shade? Thank you. 🙂
Rare shof515 Posted September 27, 2023 #2 Share Posted September 27, 2023 it depends, the side can change from each sailing. one sailing might be port and the other sailing is starboard, etc

Thank you. 🙂 Not only won't you know in advance which way the ship will dock, I have been on two Bermuda cruises where the ship changed from port to starboard or vice versa during the stay. (This doesn't happen often, but it can if certain lifeboat tests are required.)

hladygirl Posted September 27, 2023 #5 Share Posted September 27, 2023 The side of the ship facing the ocean and not the dock is where you will have morning sun and afternoon shade. Unfortunately there is no way to know how they will dock.
bluesea777 Posted September 27, 2023 #6 Share Posted September 27, 2023 It’s crapshoot … and two words … lifeboat maintenance. But I don’t think you’ll really care which side! 🤓🥳😁

Rare 1025cruise Posted September 27, 2023 #8 Share Posted September 27, 2023 You will dock either port or starboard side. No way to know which way until you are tied up, and even then, that's not a guarantee.
IAcruising Posted September 27, 2023 #9 Share Posted September 27, 2023 Completely Captain's discretion. Does he/she want an easy in or easy out? What ships in port upon arrival and departure? Best side for re-provisioning, if necessary? And of course, maintenance issues? It's Bermuda. Does it really matter? 🙃

And have done that every time we have been there. We’ll be there again soon and will see if the pattern.
Pitzel Posted September 28, 2023 #13 Share Posted September 28, 2023 (edited) We docked with the port side towards the dock while on the Prima in April. My sister in law went on the exact same trip two weeks before us (same ship, same itinerary) and they docked in the opposite direction.
