Ovsa Posted October 3, 2023 #1 Share Posted October 3, 2023 Does MSC allow passengers to bring on a bottle or two when initally boarding? Lots of cruise companies do allow two per stateroom, not sure about MSC. Thanks
emmas gran Posted October 6, 2023 #2 Share Posted October 6, 2023 (edited) No if you take booze/wine it will be taken off you. This should be posted on your roll call or the general MSC board! Edited October 6, 2023 by emmas gran

tpsmith82 Posted October 16, 2023 #6 Share Posted October 16, 2023 Well officially you can't bring any liquids other than medically required. In practice we have seen and brought numerous things. We are currently sailing on the Divina and yesterday a guy purchased no less than 8 coke cans and 4 bottles of champagne from the duty free in Barcelona. He had them in two Walmart style bags and walked right on the ship. We have purchased bottles of wine while at port and have brought them on without issue or search. We also brought on many booze with our rum runners. Not sure if it's just European ports being lax or if it's just the norm.
CruisingFox27 Posted October 16, 2023 #7 Share Posted October 16, 2023 Officially it's not allowed. We've seen bottles allowed and we've seen them held.

Exactly, it only depends on the mood of the staff at security.
RandomUser123 Posted October 17, 2023 #9 Share Posted October 17, 2023 If you want to risk it then go for it, worst thing that happens is they confiscate it. Just play dumb since you “assumed” they were like most other cruise lines in allowing 1 or 2 wine bottles per stateroom onboard.

JT1962 Posted October 20, 2023 #11 Share Posted October 20, 2023 For US sailings, they seem to check at your initial port of departure, but don’t always care at the other ports. I have seen people at Cozumel, Costa Maya, Ocho Rios, etc. bring back multiple liquor bottles, soft drinks, etc., with no issues going through security and taking it to their cabin. This will not help, when they confiscate, they confiscate and will return when the cruise finishes. So if you have a flight following, there is no use to bring more than the bottle of wine that you can finish on the last night. Or whatever you can finish on that night 😄 12 hours ago, MaisonRose said: Almost nothing, not even water! This couldn´t be less true, MSC nickles and dimes much less than other lines. Except the (more expensive) super AI lines where you can expect a final bill of zero. Many European ports, port security don't care about the liquid rules imposed by the cruise lines. Ships don't rescan. This is both embarkation and visits. Some have duty free stores after security. They will some times have a volunteer desk on the way to the ship to surrender your bounty.
