Final payment timing has changed

WE just discovered that the payment for our future cruise is now 180 days prior cruising. Now with O's new cancellation policy they are really being lsee consumer friendly. .

Interesting. I wonder when the start date was with this. I don’t believe existing contracts can be impacted, but good to know. Thank you

The time for the final payment has varied according to the length of the cruise for quite some time. I have 2 cruises that have a final payment 150 days out and 1 that is 90 days out.  One is 11 days, one is 18 and one is 24. 

 

I do know that there were some changes recently, but not sure if it's still cruise length dependent.

So this is what took effect Sept 1 2023. If what the OP is saying is correct then it's changed again since then? The O website shows the old information in the FAQ's pages.

Just checked my invoice, who knew it was so chock full of stuff you should be aware of.  Invoice dated Sept 7, 2023.  Full pay was 150 days, this on a 20-day cruise.

Same here. 150 days, 12 nights, booked Oct.4

Feb 23 booking for 21 day sailing in Aug 24 -  has 150 day final payment.  Did notice cancellation for 100% refund is greater than 180 days prior to sailing.

Pretty sure it’s 150 days. Unless OP will post a screenshot from their invoice.

Looks pretty clear to me. But we have yet to see your invoice that shows 180 days final payment..

And……when did you actually hold the reservation and then make the deposit. Being a bit vague.

We too did not read the fine print and thought it was still 90 days out. We hesitate to pay that far in advance!

FWIW the final payment for my Viking river cruise in Aug. is due in Dec.   240 days out...  However I can cancel for $200 fee up to 120 days out.  Wasn't at all surprised when O changed as I read my invoices(for my O cruises next year).  🙂

Does this new policy also affect all the “placeholder” cruises people book while aboard ship to just cancel later after the find another new cruise? We bought Future Cruise Certificates in the past, never placeholders.
