Check-In Help

Recommended Posts

I am so frustrated with trying to check-in for our December cruise.  I have sailed RCCL many times along with other cruise lines and have never had a problem.  Here is my issue:  I was born in Australia (moved to US with American parents at about 6 months).  My birth certificate is Australian.  I live in South Carolina.  I use a SC driver's license.  When trying to check in, I can complete only part:

Country of Birth: Australia

Country of Citizenship: United States

Birth Certificate State:  ****This dropdown only allows US states.***

Driver's License State: South Carolina

I have called and not gotten any help from RCCL (language barrier).  I have not ever sailed with a passport and my birth certificate and driver's license has not ever been an issue.  I am hoping someone can give advice.  My travel agent tells me to check in at the port.  This makes me nervous because I will not have a boarding pass and the rest of my family and friends will have everything they need.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

OP is a citizen by definition (US parents) but not sure how one would get a document proving that, other than a passport.  Military kids born out of country can have the same problem.  Technically a Real ID should prove citizenship but will the port folks recognize this?

After you were born, your parents most likely obtained a a "Consular Report of Birth Abroad (CRBA) "  from the US State Department. That would have been required to get your passport needed to get home when you were a baby.

Try and locate your CRBA. That can be used as your birth certificate along with your drivers license.

Otherwise, here's the link to request a replacement:

Aloha,
