Looking at booking an Aug 2024 cruise and was wondering does anyone know where the designated smoking areas are so I can pick a cabin away from them accordingly.         Jewel of the Seas…….Thanks in advance

When we were on Radiance class ships ,which includes Jewel OTS, the outdoor smoking areas were both on the port side. One was on the pool deck 11 midship just outside to the rear of the solarium and to the far side of the outdoor pool. The other was on the promenade deck 5 toward the bow just outside the entrance to the theater.

Inside it is in the Casino on deck 6 just forward of the centrum.

Aren't smoking areas basically the same on all ships?  Port side of the pool deck and the promenade deck.

On Quantum class ships the smoking area on the promenade deck 5 is in an outdoor covered area or pavilion on the starboard aft section side..

All day on sea days, and at night on all four Radiance sisters are bad if your cabin is anywhere near the Centrum.  The smoke coming out of the casino through the large open doorway flows out and up (like a chimney) into the area of the open decks above.

Wish they would finally get a clue and install a closing door at the entrance of the casino, to hold the smoke inside it.  IMHO it is too close to the Centrum.

We were on deck 8 two cabins back from the Centrum on Jewel and never smelled any smoke from the casino.

Gets even worse on longer Radiance Sailings. When Ship Refuels a couple times in Port the only place to Smoke is indoors in the Casino. Was even some passengers on Jewel walking around Centrum Vaping until Crew stopped them

Thanks for the replies, trying to do my due diligence on stateroom selection especially on a longer cruise. On Odyssey now…. tons of kids, didn’t think about Thanksgiving being a family cruise time. For the most part the kids have been incredibly well behaved but always a few outliers to make for some good stories when we get back home.

There was a whole group of young people in the VCL on Voyager vaping one afternoon.  Officer finally asked them to stop.

It's hit or miss depending on how many smokers are onboard. The Greenland cruise was very light on smokers, I could even go in the casino which I usually never do. I've been on other sailings on Radiance class where it permeated the Centrum and was annoying.

I agree 100% and I mention exactly this in my post cruise survey every time I’m on a Radiance class ship…..which is often because they’re my favorite class of ships.

I’ll never forget on Brilliance in Europe years ago for some reason they put a fan at the exit of the casino facing into the Centrum blowing the smoky air in it.

OMG...that is awful!!  I would have complained dearly about that.  Geezzz RCI...get a clue and put a door on that entrance!!  🤢

Agree...also my favorite class of ship (and will be spending a bit of extra time on Serenade next month 😉 ).

I am like you, and mention that in my exit survey as well.  Such a simple fix to add a door...not sure why they don't.   At least on new Wonder they put doors on each casino exit forward and aft.

Casino smoke polluting the Centrum should be an easy fix. According to RCI policy, casino smoking is only permitted if one is actively playing in the casino. The venue is not an ashtray for the convenience of non-gambling smokers.

Well, that's the theory. Policing and enforcing the rule is another matter entirely. It just doesn't happen. And I suppose if I was casino staff, I wouldn't want to spend my shift confronting self-entitled rule breakers either!

On radiance class ships when the outside weather isn’t good, I’ve seen people standing right inside the casino entrance  just smoking. No one stopped them. I still love that class and won’t let this affect my cruises too much.

I didn’t know that about Wonder.  I did notice on the 27 days we just spent on Odyssey, we never even once smelled anything coming up from the casino. Whatever they’re doing on that ship, it was working…….although maybe there weren’t too many smokers on those cruises.

Yeah, I know. "No one stopped them." That's my point. Going to and from the theater, that smoke cloud is nasty. Over the years, there's been much discussion about this matter. But I do agree with you ... love the mid-sized Radiance class ships! Not too big, not too small ... just right.

we never walk thru when leaving the theatre….we always go down a deck to walk across. 😁
