TwinMamainMN Posted November 28, 2023 #1 Share Posted November 28, 2023 Have sailed on RCL in the past, and several of their ships have "bridge wings" which is a great spot to enjoy a sail away, especially departing port on the embarkation day. We are sailing on Bliss in March and I'm curious if there are any "hidden gems" for sail away viewing. We have a standard balcony room, so that's one option.

dexddd Posted November 28, 2023 #5 Share Posted November 28, 2023 According to at least one poster here, standing at the CN desk to book Lats bookings is the place to be.

Rare cheersforbeers Posted November 28, 2023 #8 Share Posted November 28, 2023 Observation if it has one, boardwalk if it has one, or aft balcony if I have one.
Rare Anoynmous Phoenix Posted November 28, 2023 #9 Share Posted November 28, 2023 On short cruises with lots of people trying to get in specialty restaurants, booking one early on Embarkation Day is brilliant. Can sit in peace and quiet getting to know the staff and watching as we sail away, only one side though.
MyTMo777 Posted November 28, 2023 #10 Share Posted November 28, 2023 I guess it depends what you want to see as you sail away. We like to watch the shore disappear into the distance, while watching what's along the shore as we go. So we rarely go to the poolside party because we can't see anything. We tend to roam the ship, taking in the view from various vantage points for an hour or two, while also familiarizing ourselves with the ship - all with a drink in hand, of course.

spookylu Posted November 28, 2023 #13 Share Posted November 28, 2023 Last time we were eating dinner and only saw through the window. Next time, I want to be up on the pool deck.
Rare uneamie Posted November 28, 2023 #14 Share Posted November 28, 2023 We sail out of NYC and like booking "port side" cabins to watch the city on sailaway on our balcony. We used to do topside but now enjoy the privacy of our own space.
MamaToMany Posted November 28, 2023 #15 Share Posted November 28, 2023 Definitely go to the waterfront on deck 8! On our cruises on the Bliss and sister ships, it seemed like folks didn’t really discover it until a couple of days into the cruise. It’s a wonderful spot!
TenForward Posted November 28, 2023 #16 Share Posted November 28, 2023 (edited) We like to go to Spice H2O. We can get views from three angles and a drink from the bar. Music is playing but not too loud. Edited November 29, 2023 by TenForward Typo
Fern Crest Posted November 29, 2023 #17 Share Posted November 29, 2023 Sailing away next week on the Joy out of Panama City at midnight - can't wait to try a new line, new ship class, maybe a new drink! We booked the Vibe, should be amazing! Unless we are exhausted and fall asleep by 10:00, which is entirely possible! 😉
DominicAUS Posted November 29, 2023 #18 Share Posted November 29, 2023 I love the pool deck with a bit of music and dancing and thinking, I’m finally on vacation and let me relax! The waterfront is a great spot too for something more low key. Enjoy your sail away where ever you decide to be. 1
rodndonna Posted November 29, 2023 #19 Share Posted November 29, 2023 when folks say the "waterfront" is that "Ocean Boulevard" on the NCL Viva or would that refer to something else?

I've sailed on 3 cruise lines and NCL's sail away party is by far the best of all three.
