Old_tilly_billy Posted January 1 #1 Share Posted January 1 Never been on a cruise with so much queuing impossible to get a seat and served because everyone queuing at the bars been a nightmare. I think 90%+ are on drinks package and getting their money’s worth.
jeanlyon Posted January 1 #2 Share Posted January 1 (edited) Now there's a surprise. Never seen people queueing for drinks though. Usually steward service? And anyway, isn't this a 4 days cruise. No drinks packages on those. Edited January 1 by jeanlyon
Fionboard Posted January 1 #3 Share Posted January 1 Sounds normal for a short New Year cruise. Was the same last year on Arcadia.

Short cruises are always the same, the staff levels will be the same for our 5 week cruise on Wednesday.

Rare Presto2 Posted January 1 #6 Share Posted January 1 We were at a New Year's Eve celebration on land last night and at certain times, despite excellent organisation from the venue, there were queues at the bar. I'm not saying that this is the reason on Ventura, but if you go to any sort of celebration you know that there are times that you need to avoid having to get a drink. (5 minutes before the bar closes and 10 minutes to midnight).

We were on Ventura at New Year in 2019, it was absolutely rammed, so much so that the Glasshouse was just being used as a pub and every venue was overcrowded. Staff were rushed off their feet. We put it down to parties of adults squeezing 4 into a cabin etc. Despite all that, it was still our best New Year ever, so can't have been all that bad. kalos Posted January 3 #9 Share Posted January 3 Nothing new with crowded bars on Christmas and new year cruises . Over the years we have done New Year cruises ,even on ferries and the bars were packed. Even our local pubs and social clubs are the same at that time of year.

Andy The Glasshouse was designed to be a "pub", or more precisely a wine bar. The idea was that it would serve different wines (and beers) than those available elsewhere. These were chosen by Olly Smith and all were to be available by the glass as well as by the bottle; hence Glasshouse.
PurpleMoonlight Posted January 3 #11 Share Posted January 3 I'm just back from this cruise. We hated it so much we are planning on doing it again in 2025. 😁
Old_tilly_billy Posted January 3 Author #12 Share Posted January 3 We are also just back cruise was enjoyable, but, was it as enjoyable as previous cruises, no. Overall I thought the entertainment was very poor for a celebration cruise. Saying that we too have another NYE cruise booked but may look to moving it
