No dog in this fight, but what they were fined for and what measures they have taken maybe for the same purpose, but totally different.  The actions are the real statement not what someone on CC says, bad or good.  There a re few here who would bash if they turned exhaust waste into gold….

The actions are great.

...but lets not greenwash and pretend the motivations are environmental stewardship.

EVERYTHING a for profit enterprise does is for profit.

Which is every single cruise line.   Carnival is no different than any other.

Let's not gaslight either.

Not everything a for profit enterprise does is for profit - especially when it is mandated. The SOLAS convention is an example of what must be done and damn the profits.

Avoiding costs is for profit.

For profit businesses follow laws to avoid monetary punishments.

When they can make more money violating the law than the cost of the punishments, they violate the law regularly.

That would be an opinion.

  • 2 weeks later...

Had the chowder and the fried clam strips. Chowder was thinner than I like but had huge hunks of clam. It was definitely worth $5 but I think I preferred the chowder served in the MDR. The clams were tasty and came with fries, but half a plate of clams. I thought it was worth it.
