seafood shack...is it worth it?

Not on modern Carnival. In times past, yes. But there are no more decorative plates or chargers on Carnival. They went away around the same time as the buffet trays and when American Table was instituted.

Not referring to chargers but many seafood shack items are at least on a paper lined metal tray. Or bucket. or something. Now add an extra bowl.

Charger plates - those were the days. The luxuries that are affordable on smaller ships.

Malarkey. Most of Carnival's reduction in plastics use and food waste is part of the settlement of a lawsuit.

https://www.travelweekly.com/Cruise-Travel/Carnival-provides-details-on-compliance-settlement

Carnival agreed to spend at least $20 million through the end of its probation term to improve food waste management and disposal practices.

It also mandates a 50% reduction in single-use plastics on Carnival ships by the end of 2021, along with strategies to reduce the weight of food waste by 10%.

Single-use plastics go beyond straws and stir sticks to include items such as butter, sauce and honey packets, utensils, plastic bags in retail shops, individual toiletry bottles, garbage bags in cabins and cup lids.

If by low fares you mean casino comped cruises, Carnival should charge them extra for the fine dining.

Don't forget my Drinks On Us Everywhere (aka free Cheers package).  And I guess I should pay them back for all that casino free play too.

That's a topic for another day/thread and a reason for the downfall of Alchemy and other specialty bars.

Thanks for the tip. I had the lobster roll with mayonnaise and only remember bread and mayonnaise with little lobster.

I will try it again with butter rather than mayonnaise.

yeah, the lobster rolls are a little light on the lobster.

This thread has certainly taken a turn from the original question of "is the seafood shack worth it" lol..

Personally, I enjoy it, but I don't get it every time. The lobster roll with butter is great though and I don't think the price is too bad.

lol, I know right!

Anything else great other than the lobster roll?  I'm definitely gonna try that.

After all these years of cruising, I always forget Seafood Shack while onboard.  We were just talking about it at dinner the other day, wondering if it's worth it.

We usually get the clam strips and calamari in addition to the clam chowder.

It's pretty good and not that expensive compared to other dining options.

Those are the exact 2 that I want. You gave me the courage to order them on my 4th cruise on Venezia on 4/6! 👏👍😉

Abiding by the terms of a lawsuit where you received significant fines is cutting expenses.

Perhaps managing expenses. Costs are only going up. Certainly cutting waste.

I've had lobster rolls and asked for butter not mayo, just lobster with butter on them. Twice and for me was worth it.

Someone on cc told me ask for butter, not the ready made up stuff mixed with that mayo type stuff. I never tried the fried stuff. $18 on dream I just got off.

The fried mixed fish platter was $20.

I'll tell DH about this. He was very disappointed in the lobster roll on our cruise in Jan, too much mayo/filler and not enough lobster. And the rolls weren't filled like they had been on previous cruises. Maybe this way he'll taste lobster with butter instead of a mayo on a roll.

No dog in this fight, but what they were fined for and what measures they have taken maybe for the same purpose, but totally different.  The actions are the real statement not what someone on CC says, bad or good.  There a re few here who would bash if they turned exhaust waste into gold….
