Day Stop In San Juan

Recommended Posts

Hi we have a San Juan stop, itinerary says 11:30 arrival, anyone have experience as to earliest time get off ship to meet your guide?   Working on reservations for private van and ziplining plus other stops.  11:30 ? Closer to noon -1 pm?

It's just really hard to predict with many factors that can change the scope. But, typically you're looking at a gangway opening 60 minutes after arrival. We got into San Juan like 2 hours early the last time we went, and so we were off the ship an hour before the original arrival time.

The guides work with ship passengers all the time, if you tell the guide the ship name and arrival time they will recommend a meeting time and location. They will also know if the ship is running late and wait for you if needed.

Thanks everyone for the feedback, offered zip line times at our chosen place are 12:30 and 3 so I may book the 3 pm just to be safe.

By comparison, that seems somewhat long.  Our typical gangway opening at OSJ has been about 30 minutes after docking.  Different experiences, I guess.

It's usually 30min or less after arrival for gangway opening.  Our experience is in most ports, we arrive earlier than the projected time and the gangway is open close to original arrival time.  But, it's best to give at least 1/2 hour after scheduled arrival time.  Also, the tour providers all know when the ships come in and when they start debarking.
