My wish list for Princess

Recommended Posts

Earlier in the thread someone said they wished they could access future cruises while on current cruise. Noticed yesterday that in the Princess app you can now toggle between booked cruises under profile > voyages, which you couldn't do before. Not sure if this is what you meant but is a new feature. If you select all will also show you your previous Medallion voyages.

Adding that was great but no, it isn’t what I was talking about. As with the old app, it’s not possible to manage future bookings when you are on a ship and connected to MedallionNet.

would not want to travel with a large family group with the current DMW. It was definitely much better with fixed dining. I will be taking a family Alaska cruise this fall with five couples. We will be eating in Reserve Collection, so we should not have a problem eating together whenever we want. Pre-COVID, we did a group with four couples eating in Club Class and it was great. But I don't think the large group experience would be that great an

As I mentioned before if you allowed each person to make their own package up you could have 3,000 different plans which would be near impossible to administer. You are calling people names based on their lifestyle. If I return to the ship at 3:00 I would probably have 2 glasses of wine at Vines, 2 pre dinner cocktails, 2 glasses of wine with dinner, an after drink drink, maybe 4-5 in the casino and then grab a double Sambucca at Crooners as I head for my suite.

I refute the suggestion I am calling you or anyone an alcoholic. I did maybe suggest that if someone could arrive back at the ship late afternoon and down 15 drinks between then and bedtime that it was something I and I would think a majority would have difficulty in consuming that amount. Each to their own though, if that's what floats your boat then good luck to you. As for the 3,000 different plans I agree we all, as with the drinks situation have different ideas. But there would be no need for 3,000 different plans. All that needs to happen is for Princess or whatever cruise line to make a couple of things available instead if a passenger say didn't want the 2 x gym visits they could have a voucher for the shops onboard. If for instance you wanted a bottle of wine at you evening meal it could be a substitute for some of the drinks you had during the day. Not hard to carry out as they obviously monitor the 15 x $15 limit per day.

Hi I love all the suggestions here. Add my vote  for smoke free casino. On our last cruise, Sky over New Years, the smoke was so bad in the casino, I had to air out my dresses before putting them back in the closet. And please stop the baked Alaska parade. Most of the time, I would like to finish dinner in time to make a show, and this just delays it.
I will add my own modest request. I wish the IC had some sort of small tray/ cup holder, like you get at Dunkin Donuts. On mornings that we have an early excursion, it would be nice to run down, get coffees  and a bite to eat for both of us and bring it back to the room.  Or bring something up to where I am sitting  around the ship. Maybe, I missed them, but I have never seen any. ( very first world problem 😊

With 4 or 5 couples, it is difficult to coordinate times for dinning every night. With fixed seating, it was easy - we all knew what time to show up. With Club Class, it was easy - we could show up anytime (even different times) and our table was always ready for us.

Do you mean that people can’t agree on what time to make your reservation without having only the two options available with fixed dining?

If I log out of the app then when I go to log in, I have to type in all the information, ID and password. I'm guessing you don't log out of your app.

We just got onboard and it did make us both log in but now, it stays up.
And you are correct, we don’t log out.

No one has said that the MDR isn’t used much. I simply said that the number of passengers who eat there every single night is limited by the availability of other dining venues.  Lots of people, maybe even most, eat at specialty restaurants, the buffet, or casual dining during a cruise.

Count us in that group that rarely eats in the MDR.  If we go, it’s usually for lunch.

Thanks, we'll try again next month on Discovery Princess Classic California Coastal.

So, we are onboard right now and just checked.  I do have access to my next cruise later this month.  None of the others have showed up on the app.  I have heard there are things that are possible to complete on the website now, though.

That’s us, too!  Occasionally, for lunch or breakfast.  In the specialty restaurants you are seated immediately, you get very nice service and really good food.  And, it costs less than Reserve Class in the MDR!  Love it!

Oh, people feel entitled to all 15 drinks, alright. I've been swarmed when I suggest that Princess has every right to ensure the drinks on a person's package are only consumed by that person. "Those are my 15 drinks, whether I drink them myself or order half for friends shouldn't matter!"

I disagree with that.  It isn’t 15 drinks they expect you to consume but they put a limit on it.
You wouldn’t go to a land based all you can eat buffet and expect to pay for one when two are actually eating.

Is this true? I feel like on my first and only Princess cruise, bottle water and coffee counted towards my total?

It always just been for the drinks containing alcohol.  Coffee, water, sodas, juices are unlimited with the package

I’ve had to ask, but they have had them when I requested one. I remember that I saved it and reused it during the cruise

I have had a server in Vines charge us for five glasses and give me a full bottle of wine to take to our cabin

No Indoor Smoking - Period

Volume Button For Announcements - I LOVE this one

Kill Baked Alaska Parade (or at least the napkin waving)

Bring back Ice Cream and Sorbet selections at dinner - not just at lunch (Wife's Request)

Add Bulleit Rye to bar menus (My Request)

Extend MDR breakfast until 10 AM (Great Suggestion!)

Elite discount on Plus/Premier

Discount for Plus/Premier if you don't use the gym or the desserts

If the second person in the cabin is not of legal drinking age allow the other one to purchase Plus or Premier without forcing them to buy it for the underage cruiser

4:00 PM Milk and Cookies!!! (Loved that little benefit)

Opt out for the stupid lanyard and medallion holder (PLEASE!)

Personal wish list items:

Teach Laundry Staff what "NO STARCH" means

Install a "scent detector" that flags people who douse themselves with scent and then fine them

BAN Mark Villar as an "entertainer"!!! (Why is this clown following us?)

Keelhaul JP and put the video on youtube

Other comments:

On our last cruise our door couldn't be closed without slamming. Very annoying and Princess didn't care.

Eucalyptus Scented Items Reek

Shower Curtain Doesn't Bother Me At All

Bravo on the scent detector!  I can’t stand certain perfumes and colognes.  I get a very severe reaction at times.  I was going to mention that in the original post but don’t really think Princess can control that.  I worked in a hospital and even though we had a policy on no perfumes, strong scents as it could be harmful to patients.  Still, some fellow employees just didn’t care.  It made me sick, can’t imagine that someone in a hospital bed would react well to that.
But, since Princess sells perfume in one of their boutiques, I’m think it would be a conflict to ask people to not wear it onboard.  At least I think they have stopped praying it out into the hallway past the perfume shop.  Between avoiding the smoke in the casino and the perfume in the shop, it was oftentimes a convoluted path to get to the theater.

We are on the other side of the issue.  We never eat in the buffet for any meal.  We do not eat in buffets at home.  We have seen too many serving utensils dropped on the floor, picked up, and stuck back in the dish.  We only eat at specialty restaurants if they are comped.  We have never had a meal there that we thought was worth the price.  We have never eaten a casual meal.  We do MDR three meals a day.

Agree, the buffets are not for us, too.  MDR is great, if that’s what you enjoy.  We just prefer the quiet atmosphere and the elevated service you get in the specialty restaurants.  The MDR at dinner is so loud and chaotic.  We’ve always enjoyed our meals in the specialty restaurants and believe it’s well worth the extra cost.  I love that there is something for everyone’s tastes when you’re cruising.  To each their own!

What cruise line doesn’t sell perfume?

But those who don't have free laundry might like to have a laundry package.

I'm not suggesting options within drinks packages, just bundling the selected standard drinks package of whatever type with whatever is chosen from the other things. But those who don't drink alcohol might like to be able to choose a no-alcohol drinks package bundled with internet and gratuities say.

Essentially every item would have a bundle price and the chosen items added together would give the package price for that person. It actually wouldn't be technically difficult to implement, especially with the medallion technology.

You mean the technology that can’t even get the count of drinks right or puts drinks on the correct account ?

They wouldn't even have to fine them to make me happy. Just have the medallion emit a sound when you get near so you can change directions! 🤣

Their disclaimer page says alcoholic drinks are limited to 15 but doesn't say anything about limiting any other drinks:
https://www.princess.com/html/global/personalizer/ssv/beverages/disclaimer/

Non alcoholic drinks have never counted for the 15. If that was the case I would run out by dinner

Please see your post #95 where you state that one would have to be an alcoholic to be able to take advantage of the plus package on a day when you are off ship for most of the day. You may want to revisit that one

You are a great friend of mine but I can’t see doing a long cruise with only doing dinner in specialty venues where the menu never changes. Again each to their own

I concur.  For our voyages of 30+ days that would not be feasible.

We’re the same when it comes to buffets, especially on any of the cramped buffets on older Princess ships; maybe once per sailing.
