Linked Reservations, so what info do you really see?

Recommended Posts

We're going with a fairly large group of people this July and are thinking about linking reservations for ease.

I've seen some threads here that have talked about bits and pieces of what personal info (like cruise charges) is shared between guests, yet have not come across anything conclusive.

For those that have gone through the process before, do you mind sharing what personal details are available to linked reservations? Can people see each others passports (name, date of birth, passport #, etc), what items they've purchased, etc?

I'm just trying to mitigate some potentially awkward situations. Thank you!

Welcome to CC.

No, though you may see some on board account charges if you use the same credit card on other folks in the same cabin.

Not much need to link bookings.

I'm not sure how or why it happened but this is my recent experience. We were just on a family cruise a few weeks ago. We had 4 cabins. My TA (I assume it was him) set it up so that I was the "lead" member of our group. I could see everybody's reservation and I could make changes to all of them. I could see how much OBC they had. I could look at their pre-cruise purchases and I could make purchases for them. I could see all of their check-in information. I actually checked in 2 other family members that felt unsure of how to do it,

This.  Either party of a linked reservations can do all kinds of things for both reservations.  Our cruise 2 weeks ago I was able to see all their reservations, do their health check ins and put in their check in info and upload their photos.

We have 4 reservations linked for my family.  They are all linked just to me.  So I can see all of their information, make or cancel pre cruise purchases and check them in.  However, when they log in they can only see their own information, not mine or the other reservations that are linked to me.  Once onboard, I have never been able to see their onboard purchases.

Oh wow, and what's in check-in info? Name, date of birth, passport #, etc?

Can everyone see each others info too? Or just the "lead" account?

I have linked several bookings on different cruise lines and the only thing that I can see is what items we wanted to link.  This included same dining table, if you want the same hotel pre or post cruise.  I could not see anything other than those items.

The lead on Royal can see and change personal information on each reservation. Dining time, bed configuration, purchase modify or cancel any pre cruise bookings.  They can add events to the calendar...basically anything you can do to your own booking.  If you check in yourself, the lead will then see all your check in info...passport info, dob, address, credit card if you add one to your sea pass card before cruising, they can add or remove names for pick up at Kids Club.  If you don't fully trust the lead you are linking your reservation too then I wouldn't do it.

I'm the lead for my sisters and parents room because I make all the reservations, check everyone in and plan the vacation for our family ( I am the only one that doesn't work so they give me this job.) If you have any hesitation then don't link.  If you are worried about dining together in MDR then go there first thing upon boarding and ask for the reservations to be seated together.

That's so helpful, thanks! So it sounds like only the Lead can see everyone's info? Can non-Leads see the info for everyone else?

A friend of mine linked several bookings on a cruise last year. We had shared booking numbers to link reservations so we would be seated at the same table in the MDR. Everyone called (which is the proper way to link bookings for MDR purposes) except my friend who thought  linking the bookings online would do the same thing. Long story short, every one of the 8 people linked could see everyone else’s information until several days later when the reservations were unlinked online after numerous calls to RCI.

It depends on how you link them.   If you want only you and the lead to see all of the info, then have the lead login in to their account and choose to add a cruise to their account using your reservation number.  Then you will only see your information and they will see theirs and all of yours. If they add multiple reservations to their account in this way, the lead will see everything for all reservations but you and any others linked to them will only see your own reservation information.

All they need to link you is your name, reservation number and sail date.  They really need more protection on linking.

wow, so the other 7 people didn't have to link, just the action of that one friend led to everyone being able to see each other's info?

curious, what were they able to see? was it just name, birthday, or was it more sensitive things, like charges (in another thread someone mentioned seeing another person's spending at the casino), passport #, etc?

For a few days I could see everything about everyone else’s cruises and was told by others they could see everything related to my cruise (passport, purchases, etc). The one thing you couldn’t see was the full credit card number for those who already had added one to their account.
