Connect HDMI device to TV on Celebrity Eclipse

Hello all, I am currently traveling on the Celebrity Eclipse and I find myself unable to view any device connected to the HDMI ports of the TV. It's not an accessibility problem, as there are 3 accessible HDMI inputs, as shown in the attached photo. The problem is that I cannot find a way to switch from the PC input where all the content provided by Celebrity comes from to any other input. The source selector on the side of the TV is not working and the remote that I got, shown in the second pic, is much simpler than the one shown in a previous forum post on the same subject  of just a few months ago and does not allow to perform the procedure presented there. I asked our concierge, who after "consultation with the IT experts" told me that it was not possible to change source because all the buttons on the side of the TV had been disabled exactly for that reason.

Leaving aside any discussion on the rationale for Celebrity to go out of its way just to worsen its passengers' experience, has anyone any hint of how to proceed in this situation?

Thanks in advance for all sugggestions

On the Equinox there was a channel in the TV guide called HDMI and when selected it automatically changed to the right input and showed whatever you connected to the hdmi input. I take it there is nothing like that for you?

Bummer, we sail on Eclipse in the future  and I thought I had it figured out.
Had success on the Equinox, and posted this. But I’m guessing this didn’t work on the Eclipse.

My thoughts exactly..maybe the casino

Sorry my bad, I assumed it was clear enough from my question that I was the type who finds solace and pleasure in life only in geeky pursuits. I thought it was a given that  the most amount of fun anyone could have in a cruise was transforming the cabin into a man cave and fidgeting with the tv inputs and cables. I cannot thank you enough for opening my eyes to these unheard (by me) alternative ways of enjoyment, especially because they were so far outside the scope of my question. It's true, one never knows the wealth of incredible information that others are willing to go out of their way to provide. I feel truly humbled and blessed.

Thanks, I thought of that possibility. Unfortunately, no luck

On celebrity Summit, I got the usb working by plugging in the usb key and the tv responded and asked me if I wished to switch (there was no other way to switch inputs)

it might work the same way if you connect the hdmi to an active device …the tv might detect the input and ask if you want to switch

Best response….ever!

X IT probably got tired of resetting any TV that was reconfigured by the previous guest who had to watch their personal video programs.

It just takes time to figure out what the previous guest has done to change the TV inputs. Why allow that voluntarily?

This is actually the best response here. Kudos.

It does indeed takes time to press repeatedly the Source button on the side of the TV to go from the input selected by the last passenger to the one where the standard cruise programs are. A highly technical task that cannot be left to the cleaning crew. Especially in these old models that used to cycle through all the inputs and not just the active ones. Much better to deactivate the Source button and stimulate the passengers' fantasy in cooking up alternative solutions whose inventiveness, I am sure, will never tire IT personnel.

the wifi was so bad, nothing would stream

Not much has changed since then. I wasn't even daring to consider streaming anything, we just wanted to share on the tv screen some footage that we shot during our trip and watch some shows we had downloaded on an external drive.

I can't believe you're not satisfied with one or two news stations, some form of ESPN that shows sporting events one never knew existed, a channel or two that show nonstop cartoons, an onboard infomercial, or the view of the ocean ahead.  What more do you need?

Live webcam from the bridge facing forward would be nice.  🙂

That's a good question. I tried everything but I found out through many painful and extensive trials and errors that nothing quite compares to the effectiveness of the exposure to my travel footage in instantly increasing the level of enjoyment of any other activity 😉 By comparison, even your typical bottom of the barrel port excursion, when one gets bussed around and afforded 5 minutes to take photos at a historic site and 1 hour to roam around a shopping center, feels like an experience reserved only to royals. Without even counting the beneficial effects of a therapeutic 5-minute post-dinner exposure to the footage that sucks away any residual life energy, thus preventing any misguided temptation to visit casinos or martini bars and neutralizing their explosive potential of transferring large amounts of weight from pocket to regret. Life is better enjoyed with a controlled injection of daily misery, as no one ever said 😁

It does not work with the TV in my room, which seems to be an older model than yours (the Samsung code indicates it is from 2008) with a non-original and limited-function remote. From different posts on the subject, including the one I linked in my original message, it seems that not all rooms in a ship have the same tv model, so you might have more luck. I think that my only option might be to purchase an HDMI to VGA adapter as in the pic below to connect to the only selectable tv input. I'll try to do it at the next port in two days. It would be much easier if I can find out how to get it delivered to a locker in Brazil lol.

We the same issue on the Constellation this past January, 2024.

The only stations available were children's programming and X info pages.

Depending on who you spoke with you would get different answers to why service was out.

Fortunately, we were able to get ESPN for the National Championship game !

Pretty much why X IT makes it harder whenever they can to stop any pax connection with cables of any kind. They don't know what you have connected and reconnected to make your device play. Additional the room attendant isnt going to check so they would have to send someone from the limited computer lounge staff to check so the next pax can actually use the TV (maybe for the muster drill)

No IT dept in any company would allow a physical connection to a network - which this TV really is   They would duct tape the entire back of the TV and cover every port if they could

We are going on Millennium and I had no issue getting my device hooked up to the TV in our Sky Suite -- the issue I ran into is there was no power outlet that I could access on the wall where the TV was located.  The TV and the Mini-fridge were plugged into them.

For our upcoming cruise, I am considering using a multi outlet plug to connect my FireTV power adapter and the TV. Just have to see what our room attendant does if I do that.

Here are a three suggestions for you to try:

Press and hold the 0 button for 10 seconds, this may allow you to change source.

Press Mute - 1 - 1 - 9 - OK, this might take you into Hotel Mode.

Can you unplug Celebrity's input? Looks like it's in the PC port from your photo. Do that while the TV is off and then switch it on.

Andy.

I am very "technologically-challenged," but my husband and I will be on the Eclipse in January.  On previous cruises the past 2 years on the Silhouette and recently on the Equinox, we've had no problem getting our HDMI cord attached.  I remember we had to have help the first couple of times to get the source switched because it was a long process (and we are in our late '70's).  But, I'm very concerned now about our upcoming cruise because we really need to be able to access a couple of things from our computer to our tv during our cruise.   Is there really no way that an HDMI can be connected to the tv's on the Eclipse?
