Protein Shakes

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know if the cruise ship carries protein shakes such as Fairlife shakes? If so do you know how much they cost? If not is that something I could bring aboard as I have to have one daily for my diet.

On embarkation day, a small quantity of non-alcoholic beverages (i.e., sparkling water, sodas, energy drinks, juice, and milk), packaged in cans or cartons, may be brought on board and must be in the guest's carry-on luggage. A small quantity is considered a maximum of 12 sealed, unopened cans/cartons of 12-ounces/354-ml each or less, per person.

Since Fairlife is in plastic bottles you won't be able to bring it on board. You can bring on Protein drinks in cans or cartons, like premier protein in cartons.  Up to 12 cans/cartons.

As another poster mentioned, if this is for a medical reason, special needs can authorize an exception to that limit. But I would strongly recommend bringing a copy of that authorization in writing to show the security personnel when checking in. I received authorization to carry-on three twelve-packs of Ensure High Protein for a Carnival cruise last year, but security said they didn't know anything about my authorization and wouldn't let me through with the Ensure until I produced a written copy of the email.

Absolutely true but special needs can provide written permission that OP can bring with them on embarkation day, if there is a particular reason he or she needs that brand which only comes in bottles. Or if they need more than 12. Etc.

I'm currently on Glory. Muscle Milk is $5.25.

I wasn't aware they even carried Muscle Milk. Does anyone know if it's covered under the Cheers or DOUE Program?

Thanks, I'll have to remember that. 🙂

The muscle milks, bottled teas, etc., are usually only carried at the coffee shop bar and usually in very limited supply.

If I had to have a protein drink, I would try to find a powered one that is a lot easier to carry.

I have some Protein Powder I use at home, but the container is much bigger than what I want to carry around and don't really want to carry around a couple of ziplock bags with powder in them. I'll see what I can get from the Java Blue

I don't believe that is correct.

The only single-serve beverage served onboard that is not included in Cheers that I am aware of is the "fresh squeezed" premium juice cocktails served at seaday brunch that are $6 or some ridiculous price.

Yes, I am aware of that language on CCL's website. However, there is other language from Carnival's website that seems to contradict that. The info in the below link specifically delineates each and every PepsiCo beverage offered on CCL vessels, including all the ones that are included in the Cheers! package and those that are not. If you scroll to the bottom of the list, you can see that the two Muscle Milk protein shakes are the only two products specifically identified as being available on the ships, but not included in the Cheers package. Beverages | Carnival Cruise Line

It's for the above reason that I thought that Muscle Milk did not appear to be included in the Cheers package. And while I have never gotten the Cheers package because I always have DOU through the casino, I have had a similar drinks package on another cruise line and that package did not include protein drinks because the drinks are apparently considered "food." Be that as it may, since I am currently onboard Glory, I took the opportunity to walk over to the Java Blue Cafe and confirmed that Muscle Milk is, in fact, included in the Cheers package so I stand corrected.

It's a shame that Carnival's FAQ page is out of date here - yes, muscle milk is included in Cheers! It may not have been when it was first introduced but it is now! 🙂 Good to have first-hand confirmation here. Hope you are enjoying the crossing.

OP check out Devotion Nutrition or Clean Simple eats both have single serve protein packs.  That are easy to mix on ship. I love my fairlife but those are both good too.

I wouldn't use a ziplock bag, get a tupperware container with a screw on lid and just put it in your luggage (no need to carry it on in your carry-on bag)

you can then have room service deliver directly to your cabin the water/milk or whatever you need to mix it into

Goodluck!  In the past I had some individual serving size protein shakes that were a little larger than a hot chocolate pack that I used for weight management. I brought them on several cruises.
