Rare OzKiwiJJ Posted August 17 #552 Share Posted August 17 Well! That was "interesting". A short while ago we had a wind gust of 70 knots (130kph) hit the starboard side of Coral. The ship listed to port for a tad longer than was comfortable. One of the cupboards in our MDR section sprang open and quite a few side plates crashed out and a few smashed. Luckily our dessert dishes had been cleared, one of our waiters had just removed our wine bottles to storage, and we grabbed our glasses so there was no damage on our table. It was a bit scary for a few moments as it seemed to take a long time for the ship to right itself. Good Spirits didn't fare so well - glasses smashed and some of the bottles in the top cupboards fell out and smashed. All good now, the Captain has kept us informed of what was happening and there have been no injuries reported. However we haven't been back to our cabin yet ...

Rare Mareblu Posted August 17 #555 Share Posted August 17 Julie, for a dramatic finale, you need to don that fabulous masquerade outfit you wore on Cunard.

Rare OzKiwiJJ Posted August 17 #558 Share Posted August 17 We're on deck 9. As we left our cabin this morning a fellow passenger asked if we'd had water coming into our cabin like someone else on our corridor had. Nope, not us. We keep our balcony door closed. I guess those passengers learnt one of the reasons why cruise ships have notices saying to keep the balcony doors closed.

Rare arxcards Posted August 17 #560 Share Posted August 17 Glad it has all sorted out. It is a weird feeling. Is Princess turning on any other grand plans for your last night? It shows on the tracking too.
Blackduck59 Posted August 18 #561 Share Posted August 18 (edited) @OzKiwiJJ Well julie that feels like a serious "what the H**L" moment Lynn and I are happy you are safe and hope there were no injuries to passengers or crew. Hopefully the rest of your voyage is uneventful and you return home safely from the sea. Rare cruiser3775 Posted August 18 #563 Share Posted August 18 Wow, what a fright to end your world cruise. I'm always telling my cruise phobic sister in law "these ships are so big you will hardly notice you are sailing most of the time". Won't tell her your story, or I'll never get her on a cruise. Thanks for all your good progress reports for 102 days, and happy landings (or should that be dockings?) in Sydney. It's going to be a shock to the system to start cleaning, cooking and making beds.

Rare arxcards Posted August 19 #573 Share Posted August 19 As the WC didn't end up leaving from Brisbane because of the itinerary changes, I guess that is the lap completed. I gather there are still quite a few aboard till Brisbane.
