Saint Greg's Carnival Horizon ABC - Live - April 27, 2024

Recommended Posts

I have enjoyed reading through your cruise.

A few questions, really for anyone that has done the abc islands on this ship, I’m really looking for activities on each island that will work with kids that aren’t snorkeling. My kids will be 11 and 8 when we cruise.

And we’ve been on a few ships but it just seems from your pics, this one is crowded everywhere. Were there any quieter spaces or was it always mobbed?

I’m a little nervous that nobody else is here…..3 ships in port. This is the only place I went that didn’t have a ton of cars/people. I didn’t see any near this.

We originally had the trike tour booked in Aruba. About a week before our cruise we started watching videos and weren't crazy about most of the stops. This looks like one of those places and no thank you, big rocks are not my friend! So we cancelled it. Later I kind of wished we'd done it just so we had seen more of the island but we had a good day anyway.

Heading back to where I left off now . . . . 😂

Anyone know when the pool will reopen?

Poop in the pool..

We sat & watched them cleaning everything around the pool wiped everything down

We come back to swim and it’s closed.  Weird

3:30pm
Pool at the back is open

This was a big problem on my cruise as well.  I think 3 of the 8 days the main pool was closed because someone kept getting "sick" in it.

I was reading some food comments from my cruise on social media. This one stood out. I don’t know why. I can’t put a finger on it.

“I found a fingernail in my food at the smokehouse on day 1 ”

Thank you Greg for the review & pics. The Curacao pics reminded me that we did have a better experience there than I had first remembered and I previously had unfortunately said "meh".

I have also have to say that it absolutely amazes me that you can cruise, review and remember all the various ships, ports, performers, and everything else you do like the movies & sports, plus answer all our questions.

Just boggles my mind!

Nope. Didn't get either of those on both my 25th and 50th. In fact, my Milestone card on my 50th didn't even have the number 50 on it! Patti said she would put it on with a sharpie! :classic_biggrin:

Mine didn't either for my 50Th. I save my cards so I was a bit disappointed. Still cruise was great.

Duck tape, that and WD 40 is the answer to world problems….

If it moves but it shouldn't, use Duct Tape.

If it doesn't move but it should, use WD40.

Wonder if a finger was attached.

And on top of that I’ve heard a lot of people complaining about drinks on us this cruise. So I know all of those people are casino. They say it’s too hard to get a drink in the casino. Which I believe since there is no casino bar.

The trick? Find one or two servers the first night in the casino and give them a nice tip. After that you do not have to look for them - they will be looking for YOU!

Thoroughly enjoying your review btw. Curacao looks amazing! I am hoping to book ABC on Horizon for this September.

I wasn’t playing in the casino so I don’t know. But having spent a good bit of time in the sports bar I know there was usually one server in the sports bar. And all he did was carry drinks out to the casino. I get the feeling they only had one server for the casino and he got the drinks from the sports bar.

Thanks for the great review!

I know you mentioned several NCL cruises on the books/in the works, I'm pretty sure I read one NCL review you wrote and and it was on one of the older, smaller ships? I've been looking at NCL out of NO and Galveston on the newer(ish?) ships. Just wondered your take on the newer ones if you've been on more than just the one NCL cruise. I probably just need to spend more time on the NCL boards.

I haven’t been on the newer ships yet. I do have Encore and Prima booked in the first three months of next year. So far I’ve only been on Jewel. I’m doing it again this summer. That’s actually my next cruise so I’ll be posting the link in this thread when it comes around. Before you book make sure you buy a cruise first certificate. It’s a free $150. And if you wait they frequently do the $500 ones for $250. You may find this interesting:

@Saint Greg great comparison. I am Sapphire with NCL, cruised once with Princess, a couple with RC, 1 with Celebrity and doing my first Carnival in January on the Jubilee. With NCL just ask your room steward and they can bring you a coffee setup, a robe and ice bucket.
