As @telecheck wrote, I usually post on the particular roll call thread that I work. But we don't get the work requests until a month or two out, depending on when the sergeant posts them. He posted this morning for the June and July cruises. Or if he gets mad at me (twice already), I get dropped out of the rotation...
lahlah57 Posted April 30 #27 Share Posted April 30 (edited) When we cruised on Discovery last november they told us that Monterey would not be a stop because of high winds🫤. They told us the day we were supposed to dock so they did a slooowwww sail from Frisco! Kind of irritaring! Not even a catalina offering! qoap24 Posted April 30 #28 Share Posted April 30 I just booked this cruise on Friday. Chose this one since it wasn't staying in SF for 2 days. I've never been to Catalina and I was really looking forward to seeing it. I already was picturing myself on a golf cart cruising around.

I generally lurk, and rarely post unless I have a question like today. If someone starts a roll call, I’ll be lurking and will look for your posting. Lots of wild flowers and great views. In October we are planning on doing the interior jeep tour with the Catalina Conservancy. I’m afraid Princess is going to cancel Catalina, and that’s why there are no tours listed. The wildflowers are beautiful here this year with all the rain we had this season. I bet it was gorgeous. The interior jeep tour is a great tour - I hope they don't change your itinerary. Catalina is such jewel! 1
disgirl Posted May 1 #34 Share Posted May 1 We loved Catalina when we were there. We did the Catalina food tour (not booked through the ship). It was 2.5 hrs long and we had an amazing local guide. The history and stories they shared were great. The whole thing was 5/5!
houston007 Posted June 9 #35 Share Posted June 9 Has anyone noticed that the schedule for the April 12, 2025 sailing of the Discovery Princess has the ship departing from Catalina at 6 PM on April 14 and arriving at San Francisco at 8 AM the next morning? That is a 500 mile journey which cannot be done in 14 hours. Hopefully Princess will realize their scheduling error and correct it. I would like to book that cruise but don't want to until they fix their itinerary.

Most likely 1st day is Catalina which is only a few hours from L.A. at a very slow speed and the 2nd day a sea day.

Two in October of this year, one you mention in April, '25. That is the only one with port, sea day switch. We were also interested in this. The problem is that the week of April 12 is the week before Easter. Mostly, schools will be out, and this is only a 7 nighter. Potential for lots of kids. Something to consider. Incognito1 Posted June 9 #38 Share Posted June 9 Catalina was wonderful! Rent a golf cart and go geocaching; ride the city trolley for $3 +tip and the onboard assistant will give you as good a tour as the ship's overpriced one; go snorkeling but watch out for the tiger sharks; hike to the top of the mountain (bring a water bottle!) and start/end in the botanical garden. Lots to do without ship's tours. We have been there a few times and loved it. If you want the golf cart, you should book and pay beforehand. They go quickly.
