Groundbreaking Partnership Includes Onboard Performances by Emerging Country Stars

FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla., June 5, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- Princess Cruises, the world's most iconic cruise brand, today was named as the exclusive cruise line partner for the famed Academy of Country Music® (ACM®). Kicking off May 16 at the 59th ACM Awards Show hosted by Reba McEntire, Princess celebrated Country Music's Party of the Year at the ACM Awards red carpet, interviewing artists and nominees live from the Princess Stage.

As part of this groundbreaking partnership, Princess Cruises will be the presenting sponsor for the recently introduced "ACM Live from the Red Barrel Lounge" series taking place at the Academy's Headquarters in Nashville this summer, featuring exclusive performances introducing viewers to new and emerging country artists. The collaboration will feature special performances by some of the talented artists from the Red Barrel Lounge, welcoming them onboard select future Princess voyages.

"Princess is incredibly proud to partner with the ACM and to showcase the next big country stars," said John Padgett, President of Princess Cruises. "Country music has a special place in the hearts of many of our guests, and this partnership allows us to bring unparalleled experiences onboard to combine that love for cruising and country music in a unique and memorable way."

In addition, Princess will be on site supporting the ACM Honors in August, celebrating special award honorees, off-camera category winners and the ACM Industry and Studio Recording Awards.

Founded in Los Angeles in 1964, and still the longest-running Country Music awards show, the ACM made history in 2022 as the first major award ceremony to exclusively livestream on Amazon Prime. The ACM has grown from a regional Southern California trade organization to a national powerhouse with its sights set on a higher purpose – improving lives by connecting fans, artists, and the industry. Today, the ACM is dedicated more than ever to promoting new artists, artists on the rise and established superstars, while supporting the good work of charitable causes nationwide through ACM Lifting Lives®.

Since the first cruise from Los Angeles to the Mexican Riviera in 1965, Princess Cruises has become the most iconic cruise brand in the world, from its co-starring role as the setting of the beloved "Love Boat" television series to now sailing 16 luxurious and innovative cruise ships to 330 global destinations, captivating the hearts of travelers worldwide.

All 16 ships in the Princess fleet offer well-appointed staterooms, world class dining, grand performances, award-winning casinos and

entertainment, luxurious spas, imaginative experiences and boundless activities. No matter the cruise, Princess delivers a premium vacation with the line's award-winning, signature Princess Medallion Class experience which offers unparalleled service and personalization.

I like how the PR touts calling the 800 number for more info.  We all know how disastrous that is.

meh, We've been backstage at the original Ryman Auditorium for a Grand Ole Opry performance in about 1980 or 81.  Then went down to Printers Alley where my wife didn't know we were going to a classy strip club.  We were the 'kids' on a road-builders convention ... Good times!!

to keep it cruise related ... there was a convention in Freeport the next year or so, and after that ... a cruise on the SS Norway was in the works ... unfortunately, that didin't happen

Don’t underestimate these strategic alliances. They can be powerful and long lasting. Pretty soon we will be enjoying performances from top Country artists after a fine meal at Share by Curtis Stone followed by a late night snack of Tyra Banks ice cream.

Yes, and we all know what happened to Share and the Tyra Banks ice cream.

Awesome! As a diehard fan of the genre, love this news and say it's about time. There are many millions of country fans nationwide. It's among the top selling genres and draws many Gen Z and millennial audiences, racking up huge streaming & concert sales.

I never could figure out why there wasn't a single cruise line ever willing to offer decent contemporary C&W options (All I've seen are those "theme" cruise with embarrassingly dated songs from 6 decades ago.)

To the poster making the derogatory comment above, buh bye! 🖐️

I'll gladly take your cabin.

Contemporary Country ?  To me that means Beyoncé

Like Porsche owners are clamoring all over Princess.  Or how a "Love Boat" remake can rank so well on cable television.

Princess trying to ally themselves with Country Music is like watching Pop Music tryng to transition to Classical.
I did watch it happen once, and it was entertaining as heck.

Such “official partners” marketing do not influence how I purchase anything…they merely paid a fee to buy that title.

Yep.  Princess is going nuts with the celebrity nonsense.  I wonder if the country music fans of Pitbull will line up to buy his vodka before the line dancing contest? 🙂

Country music is NOT DEAD!!   It is very much alive!!  This weekend is CMA fest in NASHVILLE with THOUSANDS of attendees from all over the USA & many other countries!!!    And most weekends Nashville is crowded with tons of visitors!!!   Nashville also has a symphony hall with a wonderful orchestra, museums & venues related to black musicians & songwriters, as well as gospel.

Princess cruises may never have the "biggies" on ships but if anyone watches American Idol or The Voice, you will see A LOT of contestants who sing country music.  There is a wealth of country music talent  around Tennessee & other states that cruise lines could use on board their ships!!

Already on some cruise ships - if you have ever been on the NCL Breakaway Plus class of ships like Bliss and Encore, then they have a resident country band in the Q Smokehouse dining venue. It's not our thing but we did enjoy the live aspect and watching passengers really getting into their line dancing 😁

I’ve been a country music fan for, I’m quite sure, decades before you were born. What tries to pass itself off as “country music” today is nothing more than glam rock.
As you correctly point out, there are THOUSANDS who have been pumped up on glam rock and appear to be enjoying it.
Give Willie’s Roadhouse a listen and see what you’ve been missing.
Again, I refer you to to “Murder on Music Row”

Alas, real country is indeed dead, dead, dead.
