Rare S.A.M.J.R. Posted June 16 #1 Share Posted June 16 Looking at set sail passes for our upcoming cruise, DW, DD, and myself are "Platinum". DS however is listed as"Platinum -Choice". He has the same points as DD, they actually get Platinum thanks to DW and myself. Yes, I know there are not many benefits at Platinum level. My question is what does the "Choice" represent? leaveitallbehind Posted June 16 #6 Share Posted June 16 (edited) IMO they include that level for all just as an incentive to ask about and join the Casino program, and everyone is Choice as their entry level tier without "investing" anything. The goal being that if you are a gambler you will join and continue to cruise with with RCCL and spend time in the Casinos. Kind of along the same lines as "Gold" with the Crown & Anchor program, which is the entry level tier you achieve after your first cruise of a minimum of 3 days. The hope is you will keep cruising with RCCL to advance in your loyalty tiers with them. Edited June 16 by leaveitallbehind

If you play and don't put your card in, you do not get a casino royale level as is likely what happened with your $5 investment.

If I had to guess, I'd say we put our cards in, but couldn't swear to it. No big deal, we don't gamble enough to make it worth signing up. Heck, we barely cruise enough to do C&A.
Rare Tree_skier Posted June 16 #9 Share Posted June 16 You must have spent at least $1 in the casino to earn The title choice... I have choice status and DW is Blank... 🙂 DW once noticed that difference between my Seapass card hers. She asked what it meant... I told her it meant she was smarter than me 🙂 1

You have to play in the casino (slots, blackjack, etc.) before you reach Choice. If you never gamble in the casino you will never reach Choice (similar to you won’t reach Gold unless you complete a cruise on RCI). Of course being Choice or Gold is more or less worthless. Thanks for the correction. We don't typically gamble but do use our free slot pulls on occasion. I guess that qualifies us....LOL. Worthless as it might be it keeps repeaters coming back I guess. Based on your comment I assume you get Choice status even if all you gamble is free play based on your C&A level.

Just checked our SeaPass cards (yes, for some reason reason I keep them) from our Oasis NYE cruise this year and our cards indicate "Choice". We haven't gambled with any measurable dollars since pre-pandemic, and even then it was less than $100 combined for the two of us for the cruise. Also it apparently works the same on Celebrity where we are "Pearl". Even more curious with them is we rarely have played as their complimentary casino perks are match play, not free spin.
