abellkathleen Posted June 17 #1 Share Posted June 17 Only seem to find NCL having solo cabins and looking for 2025 - any info?

Did you try Googling something like "solo cruise cabins"? We can't name travel agents here, but there are quite a few ads listed. And yes, there are other cruise lines that have these, but I'm not familiar with all of those. Note also that some cruise lines have some specials for singles/solo travel but it would be in a regular cabin, either with no solo surcharge or a limited extra cost. I would assume that might also fit for you, but maybe not (no special amenities/etc., for solo travelers in a special area or such in that case). Oops: Forgot to add a link to: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/279-solo-cruisers/ 🙂 Enjoy! GC Edited June 17 by GeezerCouple

CruiserBruce Posted June 17 #4 Share Posted June 17 Holland America has them on their 3 newest ships.
TheOldBear Posted June 17 #5 Share Posted June 17 Solo cabins were added to the Queen Mary 2 during her 2016 refit - and curiously the recently commissioned Queen Anne does not have solo rooms.

Menocchio Posted June 18 #9 Share Posted June 18 Here's a list from YouTuber Gary Bembridge: https://www.tipsfortravellers.com/solo-cabin-cruise-lines/ It might be out of date. He's only counting NCL's solo studios and not their more recent other solo cabins across the fleet, for instance.
john bowtie Posted June 18 #10 Share Posted June 18 I recently sailed on the Harmony of the seas out of Galveston in a solo ocean view cabin, small but functional. Many other RCCL ships also have solo cabins (some with balcony).
abellkathleen Posted June 18 Author #11 Share Posted June 18 Thanks to all the replies received. I have a lot of research to do on this and a few itineraries to look into!
SoloAlaska Posted June 18 #12 Share Posted June 18 Celebrity has some solo cabins as well on certain ships.
Ellaleah Posted June 18 #13 Share Posted June 18 NCL is fulfilling a need and Celebrity is charging ridiculous prices to compete. Celebrity has shown in every way that they do not want solos. All the NCL. Solo options seem to get booked immediately when a cruise is offered. I am not just referring to the studios. NCL seems to offer solos a nice pkg and provides a solo lounge as well as nightly “meet ups” for solos. I was recently on a NCL, but not as a solo. After observing what they offer solos I woukd not hesitate to do a solo on NCL and it may be the only cruiseline I would druse as a solo.
abellkathleen Posted June 18 Author #14 Share Posted June 18 Totally agree with your comments - NCL does seem to offer solo's a great deal with a good choice of itineraries on these solo cabin ships. Thanks so much.
Wasasalad Posted June 19 #15 Share Posted June 19 Oceania has lovely solo cabins that are obstructed oceanview on a great deck. I find the prices are a good value. Great itineraries. Check them out
jrt.mom Posted June 19 #16 Share Posted June 19 I booked on a NCL cruise and this particular ship doesn't have the studios or solo lounge...what they DO have is solo rooms of all categories without the horrendous solo supplement charge! I got a solo cabin with a porthole for a great rate.

SparklingPinkDaisy Posted June 21 #18 Share Posted June 21 I just cruised Holland America in May because a sale five weeks before sailing was too good to pass up. It was an inside room for $349/person. With the single supplement it came out at $678 plus port fees and taxes. I'd love to book only solo cabins but I'm open to any room and any deal I can afford. My budget is $1000 and under for the cruise fare + port fees and taxes.
calliopecruiser Posted June 22 #19 Share Posted June 22 Crystal has solo cabins......they're the same size as the basic double cabin, but limited in number and in very forward locations.
chefchick Posted June 28 #20 Share Posted June 28 MANY cruise lines have at least some solo stateroom categories, maybe not as many as some NCL ships but they are out there. A good TA or aggregate sites like the one with plum in the name should give you a place to start your search. If price is your main criteria, then always look at the bottom line. I have often, for example, found less expensive inside, oceanview or even balcony cabins (at double occupancy rates) on NCL than the studios simply because of supply and demand. Don’t let the solo supplement blind you to what deals might be out there.

Menocchio Posted July 3 #24 Share Posted July 3 At least some of the solo studios on MSC look pretty terrible. The bed is a pull-out sofa, and there's a connecting room on both sides. They're really more of an expansion for the regular rooms they connect to. Be careful.

It does look small - I'm booked for end of September, so I'll report back. The price was great - $350 (it would have been cheaper but I selected which room I wanted) + $170 fees for 7 day cruise, with 3 days in Bermuda. We'll see... I camp in my minivan so compared to that this looks luxurious... Edited July 4 by kjt_cruising Picture 2
