As a library lover this would drive me crazy and would have to stop and fix.  I love to bring paperbacks on cruises and leave them behind for others to enjoy and read one another cruiser has left.

I just love your writing style, wit and sense of humor.  Thank you for taking the time to entertain us all. Also  Love your port photos, they have made me interested in taking a similar cruise.  Do you by chance have a one page of the total itinerary that you can post?  I went back and  reread the first few pages but didn’t see one.

Oh, I stopped and fixed it! I also shelved all the books that had been returned early this evening and then I organized the take a book leave a book section for the third time today.

Is this helpful? I just pulled this off Cruise Mapper.

IMG_8677.thumb.jpeg.968bf562dc6bb1acc1dc3385b26feac3.jpeg

The two Greenland ports were replaced by Nuuk, Greenland on the Sunday and a sea day on the Monday.

If you need something different or have something specific you would like to know about the itinerary please ask.

This is a good time to add that the buzz about the ship is what an absolutely wonderful cruise this has been. We all want to stay on board with this incredible crew who have made  our time on The Island Princess unforgettable for all the best reasons.

Make sure you say that on the post-cruise survey.  There will also be a section to recognize individuals who made a difference in the enjoyment of your cruise.  I make sure to take photos of name tags so I don't forget to mention the exceptional folks.  It does make a difference in their careers.

Thank you so much, Aha  now I see it’s not a New York round trip. That’s what I was searching for on Princess.  Love all the interesting ports.

Pre-ordered breakfast came 45 minutes early today and was, on a scale from wrong to accurate, leaning more toward wrong.

The tray was stacked full with two coffee cups, all the sugars and no coffee. This is fine because I didn’t order coffee.

The egg muffin came with meat so I couldn’t eat it and the yoghurt was plain, unsweetened and I had ordered fruit. I hate plain yoghurt.

Ultimately I ate the melon and left the rest.

About the typo's....they are definitly not checking...I was on the Regal Princess in June with my husband, our 10th Princess cruise. We were celebrating our anniversary....our medallians triggered a happy anniversary message  displayed on the panel near the elevator banks when we were close by......it was a nice surprise...except... my husbands name is not Gleem, it's Gary...LOL

IMG_3768.jpeg

On Sapphire they left my husbands name off completely 😂.

Nope. Nope, just nope. I'm not accepting there is nothing beyond July 26th. This NCL reader from NY is not accepting the reality that your trip is so not coming to an end!

The library on the Island Princess is now immaculate. I spent hours today shelf reading and organizing. Mess it up at your own peril.

After we moved to our current small town a couple years ago I began volunteering (two hours/week) at our local library - shelf reading, shelving, etc. I may have to put this library back in order when we are on our August 2025 cruise to Greenland 😂

Also (since I did read to the most recent post), sorry that the Island let you down with the breakfast screw-up today 😟

Say "Hi" to Frank Lloyd Wright for me...(inside joke that most won't get).

That's okay, most people don't get most of my jokes.

Same.  Except mine was peppermint schnapps.

Be aware that if you are coming to Falmouth it is a long tender and today the water shuttle was like a seesaw.

Once we boarded our coach we drove through the town of Falmouth

past the American Embassy

We are here to see St Michael’s Mount.

People rush to capture the tidal island rising from the sea. They come here to swim, to explore, to gaze upon the castle overlooking Mount’s Bay and the seaside town of Marazion. They come to enjoy coffee by the sea and ice cream at the shore.

IMG_8739.thumb.jpeg.5b8b73e253761c5dcd58485568026668.jpeg

My reasons for being here are different.

14 years ago when my mom died I came to England to meet my dad’s surviving family (at that time, 3 sisters and a brother still living.) After the family connecting in Bristol I found my way, alone, to Penzance. I yearned for the ocean, for the rugged sea paths of Cornwall I had walked through in Enid Blyton’s books.

IMG_8730.thumb.jpeg.b524e0565b8868d6cdd4b3628d566e9a.jpeg

The day I was here 14 years ago was grey and cool like today. I walked by myself, eyes downward and found a flat grey rock with a solitary white ring.

A wishing rock.

Picking up the rock, I held it tight, wishing so hard that somewhere, my mom was okay.  I don’t collect rocks. I never have. That day I cradled the rock and slipped it in my pocket.

Today everyone on the bus headed left to see St Michael’s Mount.  I headed away, looking down. What I was looking for was a flat grey rock with a solitary white ring.

IMG_8723.thumb.jpeg.4ee4dd3f700a0c5689bdbaeae3906cdf.jpeg

A wishing rock.

I picked up rock after rock, turning them over in my palm.

None were right.

IMG_8728.thumb.jpeg.089d76c6bd10a3209ad80fd27208e98a.jpeg

They weren’t the same.

Not the same size. Not the same weight. Not the same dark grey.

I realized then that I wasn’t looking for the same rock.

14 years ago I needed a wish.

Today I choose a rock for me. There is still a ring, but there are colours and layers.

IMG_8734.thumb.jpeg.23c66ad778faa7c6cabc5aafd639ccee.jpeg

There is a depth and a sparkle I just didn’t have on that day 14 years ago when everything was so raw it hurt to breathe.

I didn’t need the same rock.

Today’s rock needed to be different because I am different. Grief changes you, if you let it.

I got back on the bus today, choking back tears. It was as hard to breathe today as it was 14 years ago.

Oh, and here is St Michael’s Mount

Driving through the parish of Sennen, our tour guide told us that traditional Cornish tea is scones with clotted cream and jam. In Cornwall they spread the jam first and dollop the clotted cream on top.

In Devon the tradition is clotted cream first then jam on top.

Our tour guide says they do it this way in Devon because no one has told them they are doing it wrong.
