Cunard World Club: Diamond Dining Benefit

I’ve got my first trip as Diamond coming up later this year.  Regarding the following benefit:

A complimentary meal at one of the on board alternative dining venues

Is this only complimentary for me, or does the friend I’m sharing a cabin with get a complimentary meal too?  Knowing Cunard I expect it’s the former!  My friend is currently Platinum.

We got the same email with that phrase enclosed for our March 2025 sailing.

Our Cunard email contained my name and DW's name and CWC number, making both available under Diamond for this perk.

Only available for those with their names contained on the email.

I presume you’re both Diamond?

Yes we are both Diamond World Club members.

Once you board, you will find a envelope with the certificate that you present to the M'd in the restaurant you selection on your cabin/suite deck.

Yes, it's all on the computer now. That certificate was the sort of thing that went out with or soon after the pandemic. You may / should get a letter which identifies the benefit waiting in your stateroom / suite, among the other CWC perks, but it just says to mention the Diamond status when booking. The black edge of your room card does the rest.

And it's only valid for lunch in Verandah or the less expensive "dinner at the lido"

The T&Cs:

Subject to availability. You will receive a complimentary lunch at The Verandah restaurant, or an evening meal at Kings Court or The Lido Alternative Dining restaurants. Any other expenses and additional service charge will be charged to your stateroom account. A reservation is required. To use this benefit, restaurant bookings must be made on board.

We did receive the certificate after the pandemic on the September 2022 and July 2023 sailing for each individual events. For the Alternative Dining Restaurants and also for Champagne Tea Time.

It was not a letter as mentioned.

Courtesy of the M'd of the Vernadh Steakhouse we knew from previous sailings, we were permitted to keep it and use it for another Comp Lunch. Very nice of him.

So some items may still exist.

As  a platinum member you can use the Veranda at dinner all you have to do is pay the difference, for  both lunch and dinner the food and service is excellent.

Make sure you go to the Veranda, your voucher is for lunch , from time to time we use it for dinner which will cost you extra on top of your voucher. Either way food and service is wonderful. Check your Diamond perks when you get onboard as among-st other things you will get some internet. Enjoy!

I would say use your voucher on one of the pop-ups. The free lunch I had in the Verandah was nothing special, certainly not compared with the QG. Furthermore they managed to achieve something that has never happened over many trips in QG, which was to make me feel I was slightly unworthy of their attentions. I’m sorry I can remember which ship, but one of the Vistas.

Cunard gifted us a voucher for two (except for dinner in Verandah) as QG Silver passengers.  We didn't use it because we were having a good time in QG.

On the QE in October received  the same. Previous in December the same. Only used the internet part of the offer. Last time tried the Party walked straight in and out We enjoyed the Grills Lounge and Dining better and will do the same this time.

My understanding is if using Dining in the Verandah is only for lunch

Among the 9-11 envelopes and pieces of paper littering the rubberised mat on top of the bed at first entering our cabin, is one with vouchers for free Verandah something or rather.... but this is NOT on account of our Diamond "status" but from our travel agency. And yes... they really want that voucher if or when you choose to dine. Diamond perk is "paperless".  We travel Grill so would only use it for luncheon and I think it's only for that anyway.  On the Vistas, absolutely... on QM2, no thanks!

Our take on the benefits for Diamond, we appreciate those listed before this list in the previous categories.

Always take advantage of the WIFI of course, especially now with Starlink added.

As said, enjoy the comp lunch.

Enjoyed the Wine Tasting event. Even ordered one for the evening meal.

Haven't done the luggage thing yet.

DW takes advantage of the laundry savings. Not a laundrette person.

I think the "meal" wording as opposed to Verandah lunch or alternative dinner is because QA has so many upsell alternatives. I don't know which of those even serves lunch and what counts or doesn't in terms of WC perk.

I usually use my WC perk for a Verandah lunch. On QE recently, I went on the second day, a sea day. I don't think there were even 10 tables occupied.

Gosh, on a Vista? I thought only QM2's staff had that attitude.

I agree about the pop-ups. For anyone on and Alaska or Norway cruise, try the "Frontier" (Alaska) or "Nordlys" (Norway). I don't know how local the food really is, as the menus are nearly identifal. So is it really Alaskan breast of goose in Alaska and Norwegian breast of goose in Norway? Or are they identifying the source by where they take it out of the freezer??? Either way, it's a lovely meal.

I think the Verandah equivalent, ?Sir Sam’s? Is the only one that does lunch. I believe you can have a free Italian or Indian dinner, but can’t remember the restaurant names.

I expect everything on the Norway cruise was loaded in Southampton. On the Alaska ones, Vancouver?
