Does HAL provide bus transfers from the cruise port to the train station in Rotterdam?  I will be staying a week post cruise in Rotterdam in a hotel across from the Rotterdam train station.

They didn’t when we disembarked at the end of April. There is a taxi stand outside the terminal. We had a vehicle service so cannot comment on the taxi experience.

You can take either the tram from Wilhelminaplein, about 5 minutes walk from the pier (when you get out of the terminal walk to the left, can’t miss it ) . Take either line 23 (direction Marconipleun )or 25 (direction Schiebroek ) or 125 (direction Schiebroek). They all stop at Centraal Station.
Or take the subway from the same station, look for a big yellow M for the entrance . Line D ( Centraal Station ) or E ( Den Haag ) both stop at Centraal Station.

On the tram and bus you can with credit /debit card or ov chip card , see : https://www.ov-chipkaart.nl/en/ovpay

Just be sure to tap in and tap out !

How is the subway to manage with luggage?

No problem , elevators at all stations . In the cars there are areas for bikes and strollers, but you can also put your luggage there. At the front of the second and third cars , there’s even more space.

We just took a cab from the terminal to the train station.  Easy and not expensive.

We thought it would be easier with luggage in a taxi than on the tram.  Quick, easy and affordable.

Rome2Rio is your friend when searching options and pricing estimates…

It doesn't match local knowledge 😉

Agreed. On the other hand, Rome2Rio is always available, while tapping into reliable local knowledge isn't always possible. On a flight to Halifax, we were diverted to Moncton because of the weather. I was able to quickly and easily find options on R2R to reach my destination without undue delay, while the flight was held back until the following day.

It's a bit like using Google maps to find your way from A to B. Generally pretty darn reliable, and it can provide timely details (delays, detours, etc.) that a local may not be aware of. Of course, there are times when local experience can provide a better route.
