Another Luminae Question

 Share

Recommended Posts

It's probably been answered a thousand times but here goes.  Our upcoming cruise on the Ascent in the Caribbean indicates (via the Celebrity app) that the Luminae is not open for lunch other than on embarkation day.  I thought I read somewhere else the Luminae is open for lunch on seas days.  Which is the case.  Also, is there lunch available on the Retreat sun deck or the Retreat lounge on sea and/or port days?

Thanks for your help.

Luminae is open for lunch on embarkation day and sea days. The app is showing the current cruise, not yours (unless yours is next week).

The Retreat sun deck and Retreat lounge are open every day. Lunch is available on the Retreat sun deck. I don't believe they serve lunch there on embarkation day, but they do all other days. The lounge is generally finger food at most.

Most of us are enjoying the sun deck on a nice day. There is a menu. I don't have to leave. And I don't have anywhere I need to rush to. My glass is half full...

I really like the wrap sandwich and fries, when I am not in the mood for the burger.  It's a lot less messy when sitting in a lounge chair with your plate in your lap.

Opposite of our experience.  Love it up there.

Luminae is always open for lunch on embarkation day , need to get there by 1:30, love there lobster roll which is just served on embarkation day in Luminae, they let me order two in March . As already said on port days you can get lunch in outdoor retreat , very small menu, but they have a good burger and a couple other things.

Also, Luminae MAY be open on port days depending on times you arrive.  We had a couple of port days with later arrival times ( like noon or 1pm) recently, and they did have Luminae open for lunch.

If you are in Luminae on Ascent, from which other restaurants can you order?

This is the first Edge class for us,

Thanks

Technically, none.  Luminae has its own galley, and the galley area for the other restaurants is clear at the other end of the ship.  That said, some have talked waiters into items from the 'other end', but I wouldn't even think of it without advanced notice.  It's a lot of work for someone to make the round trip, and a fair bet your food won't be as warm.

If you see something on the other end of the ship that looks good on a given night, probably best if you eat at that venue for one evening.

that makes total sense, i forgot luminae is isolated away from everything else on E,

Do you think they can handle standard MDR items like Caesar, escargot, shrimp cocktail, salmon if needed.

These used to work for my wife's allergy when nothing else would,

Rumor had it that the L galley can manage a number of the "everyday" MDR items, but I'd still watch the menu and try to provide a little warning if possible.

Correct.  You can get the classics; chicken, salmon, sirloin, onion soup, shrimp cocktail, Caesar salad in Luminae and Blu no advance notice needed.

We just disembarked Edge yesterday, and the “Classic” items you mention were offered each night in Luminae as additional options.

Yeah I call their lobster roll "essence of lobster" since there is so little lobster in it!  You definitely need to order two if hungry.☺️

Or order one as an appetizer and then the branzino  as your main.

I almost always order the 'lobster roll' as a salad vs sandwich.
