It's been a long day and I was trying to get caught up, but now's a good time for an update. He is home, but definitely not in the clear. He has 2 meds for a week then gets a urinalysis to see what's what. We are to keep a close watch on how much he drinks & urinates. So far, he's done neither, but he is eating a little. If he doesn't urinate soon, he's to go back to the hospital. We had to decline the care plan they recommended because we simply couldn't afford it. 2 nights stay plus all the tests, etc was just shy of $6,000. First time I've had to ask "what's Plan B?" Plan B was 1 night w/all the same tests & care at just under $4,000. That's a "No, what's Plan C?" So, they got him unblocked & his bladder drained, urinalysis and one round of SB Fluids then discharged. So, no nights in hospital, 1 test instead of 4, no imaging or bloodwork, No IV fluids at a cost approximately equal to a house payment. We do have pet insurance that will help some - It's 50% reimbursement not up front payment. I've never had to make such a hard decision on caring for one of my fur babies. Prayers 🙏 are welcome. 7

marshhawk Posted August 21 #129 Share Posted August 21 I try to get the trash down to the street, and the litter boxes cleaned when it is still daylight, and I am not running around like a crazy person while I am supposed to be at work. Momma Munchkin came home yesterday at 3, she has piddled one time since then. If there is nothing in the litter box tomorrow morning, she goes either back to the vet or emergency care. @Haljo1935 prayers for your kitty. When we took Munchie in yesterday, I had to sign a do not resuscitate form, I cant afford more. 6

Presently at ~0700 it is 80F with 55% humidity going up to ~101F with a chance of thunderstorms. I frequently check in on the Juneau webcam (thanks @leerathje) to see their weather just as a contrast. I think I will stay here!! I'm glad you check it out! I used to follow the Fleet Report, but left Cruise Critic for a few months. When I came back it was The Daily, and a 4 or 5 page thread every day was a little daunting! Maybe it's time to revisit though! L. 11

Rare erewhon Posted August 21 #133 Share Posted August 21 This has been a very busy thread today. Thanks for all the photos of Dunedin, it's interesting to see it from the eyes of visitors. We were married at First Church. Building has begun on the new hospital on the site of the former Cadbury factory. Whittakers chocolate made in Wellington is far superior to Cadbury. Am so pleased for @kazu with an acceptable offer for her house, yes, it is an emotional time selling a home where you have made so many memories. @Vict0riann good that Pat has an appointment with the specialist, hope he will feel better tomorrow. 14
