Crown & Anchor D+ amenity selection is a royal nuisance

Even if you select, you still may not get what you selected.  I selected 2 bottles of either pinot grigio or chardonnay, however, I get either a bottle of red and a white.  Sometimes my 2nd is champagne. And sometimes I only get 1 and have to chase down the 2nd.😁

We always got what we selected. Mostly it’s Lindeman Moscato.

13 cruises and counting.

What is the downgrade?  I'm just glad that I'm able to get something as appreciation for the loyalty.

As well as the much mentioned loss of being able to adjust your requests on line they have removed non alcoholic options such as the beach towel or slippers.  Not everyone drinks or wants curled up cheese.

Odds are no one was requesting towels or slippers so they got rid of them.

I can't imagine this is a good use of their phone reps' time. But alas, on to the phones.

When calling the regular Customer Service line, it's smart to call first thing in the morning OR late at night -- they're open considerably later than you'd expect.  You'll get right through -- I suspect C&A would be the same.

How about not complaining about free gifts?

Since they're given to people who have cruised with Royal about a million times, you could argue they're not "free gifts" but earned benefits.

I don't need more beach towels, don't wear slippers, don't like wine and can get cheese (or fruit) from the buffet.  Know what EVERYONE likes?  On Board Credit.

I'm quite sure if you surveyed people on your next cruise, 100% of them would say, "Yes, give me money I can spend as I wish."  Additionally, On Board Credit is quite cheap for Royal to give.  What do you think a cocktail actually costs them?  Maybe $1-2?  Yet if you buy it with On Board Credit, you feel like you got a $15 value -- good deal for Royal.  On Board Credit doesn't have to be physically delivered to rooms, so it doesn't take up the ever-dwindling crew's time/effort.  It's a win across the board.

I've emailed them in the past and with the last reply. I was given this email address to use diamondplus@rccl.com

There used to be a separate D+ tele # (C&A #, plus pressing 9), but that is gone with the Dodo birds.

If both people (husband and wife) in the same cabin are diamond plus does each one get to request their choice?

I believe the request/gift is per cabin/

That's because they're not drinkable! 🤣😉

Some are, I always get a bottle of Kendal Jackson Chardonnay, nothin to sneer at.  Here's the lowdown:  As of today..........

23_You will receive complimentary welcome waters in your stateroom upon arrival on the first day of your cruise. Emerald and Diamond members receive 2 water bottles per person. Diamond Plus and Pinnacle Club members receive 3 water bottles per person. Guests must be 18+ years of age to qualify for this benefit. 24_The Chef’s Choice gift is exclusive to Diamond, Diamond Plus and Pinnacle Club members on 5+ night sailings. Gift and frequency of delivery to the stateroom varies by ship and length of sailing 25_No amenities will be delivered on sailings less than 3-nights. Only one amenity will be delivered on sailings between 3- and 6- nights. All selections must be made at least 10 days prior to sail date and may be subject to change — should your amenity of choice not be in stock onboard, it will be automatically substituted for an item of similar value. Amenities are delivered throughout the sailing. Not all items will be delivered on the same day. Members and their travel advisors may contact a Loyalty Specialist to select or make changes to their amenity preferences by calling (800) 526-9723 and pressing 9 at any time during the greeting message. All amenity preferences are per household and are based on the selection made by the primary member in the relationship. Hours of operation: Monday through Friday 8am – 11pm EST; Saturday and Sunday, 9am – 8 pm EST. Amenities are delivered onboard only and will not be shipped to the member post-sailing.

And the list:

I am a new diamond plus member and had no problem calling and requesting the amenity I wanted.  I was sceptical about whether it would be in my room but it was.  All good for me. No issues.

(800) 526-9723 and pressing 9   still listed in C&A pages.

Recently, pressing g 9 does not work or been getting the same person's as in CS.

This happened in 2022, or even earlier…

These free gifts are mostly $5-$15 items, too.

Correct, but they come handy in addition to already provided benefits … like 5 drinks up to $14 per day, free photo, 2 free days of internet and some more.

I’d rate Royal loyalty program as very nice in comparison to most others.

Indeed. I'm just saying a few minute phone call to request it shouldn't turn into a rant session.

I wonder why they took it off as a do it yourself option back in the day.  Easier just to choose online.

We always get 1 bottle each - I think only the towels and the bag are per household!

Consider yourself lucky then. It should all amenities are supposed to be per household. Unless you're over 340 points and you're technically getting 2 per household, not one each.
