Sky Lounge Hijacked

A good niche (is that really just an X thing?) but there still seems to be smoking in certain places so not really "no smoking" as much as limited smoking. And that is at least addressed UP FRONT in their various terms/conditions boilerplate.

Folks will be surprised if they find the Sky Lounge fully booked/restricted, but they shouldn't be surprised by the limitations on smoking.

Yes smoking/vaping is written in the cruise contract.  Hijacking of public spaces is not, though there is likely wording to allow almost anything.

Maybe you misread/misinterpreted my comment...

IF X hid a significant detail like the PW lounge reservation, THEN I would likely become one of the "former" X loyalists now sailing on other lines.

No, I think I interpreted your comment correctly given your IF/THEN explanation.

I am booked on the Equinox next September and have thought that too many cabins are already booked for this cruise not to have a group on it. I went to Park West's website, and BINGO, it's listed there!

For those of you who want to see if your cruise is a Park West VIP cruise, Here is the link https://www.parkwestgallery.com/auctions-pre-registration/?gad_source=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIz7jJ1uyDiQMVt6haBR3Uey23EAAYASAAEgK8ufD_BwE

I don't see anything except registration on that website. So how did you get to the schedule?

I registered. When I got my welcome email, I unsubscribed.

I think, upon looking closer, because my status would be entry level, they listed all the cruises, not just the ones with high level VIP groups.

I would push those elevator buttons too if that’s what it took to get an answer about unprofessional behavior.  So I’m inconvenienced but it’s wrong for them to be for a few minutes?  If you want to be a door mat, that’s great.  The rest of us are not.

Will they call security if you just walk in and sit on the side?

This happened during our cruise to Alaska on the Solstice last July. I don't know the name of the group that had reserved it, but the Sky Lounge was closed for a private event every time we went to check (at least 3 or 4 different days). It was disappointing because I couldn't find a quiet space. The library is open to the atrium, and they were doing indoor archery and other fun things there, so the noise level was high. I'll send a note to the exec office email shown above.

UPDATE: Reporting back after I emailed the exec office. I received a response the next day from a rep named Miriam inviting me to schedule a call with her, which I did. I spoke with her on Oct. 8. She acknowledged that they are well aware of the issue and that "our president is working on it." So whether or not there will be any resolution, they're at least looking at it.

I would encourage anyone who shares this concern to send an email to executiveoffice@celebrity.com. I am not naive enough to believe Celebrity will stop hosting these revenue-generating events, but with enough people writing in on the same topic, maybe they will put more effort into finding another location to host them so guests can reclaim the Sky Lounge.

Thanks for sharing.  Our President is working on it?  You mean the one who worked for Park West?  😂

My thought too. The website doesn't have a list of the VIP cruises,  only registering people for their standard auctions
