Hi Everyone !

It looks like we need someone who recently sailed Millennium to help fill in the blanks. Hopefully, someone will answer soon.

Andy:

I just talked on the phone with Simon on the Millie, he told me the name of the captain,, in fact,, he is the acting HD and does a lot of the emceeing.. it was a name i wasnt familiar with. He was within 5 minutes of going onstage and I got his cell phone, so we chatted for a few minutes only. I didnt realize he still does the CD stuff for fun.

I should have written it down.

Hi C 2 C !

I asked for it to happen. I dont touch the threads on this board unless it is an emergency. I moderate several other boards here at Cruise Critic. I thought it made sense to add the CD to the title, as I am a big believer of the Cruise Director position. I like to see them get the recognition they very much deserve.

Nick just works as a fill in here and there. He doesn't have a permenant ship. Stewart Turnbull is another fill in CD

Thanks Rick:

I wonder who will be the next "fill in" when Simon resumes his CD role and Dru goes? back to Mercury?.

Would you know Nick's regular role? Is he at head office?

Our last 3 cruises were on Infinity and we go again in October. Damian de Lorenzis had been with us the on all of them, where did he go ?? He was always a great guy, and good CD
We had Damian last October on Infinity, too. We liked him and were always bumping into him -- something about wanting a Tim Horton's coffee. :D

We really appreciated Damian's skills on the night the ship sailed passed the Lava Flow an hour ahead of schedule and everybody missed the opportunity to see it. Dirk (the naturalist on board) told us a couple of days later that it was because of Damian's persuasiveness that the Captain changed his mind and turned the ship around for another chance to see the Lava Flow. That's when I realized just how much a good Cruise Director is needed on board.

We were on the first cruise that Stewart was a CD on. It was 2 Christmas' ago on the Horizon. He was great. You should of heard his reading of "Twas the Night Before Christmas". He did it Christmas Eve in the main show lounge in front of a packed house after the performers.

Not a dry eye in the house...

Hope to run into him again...;)

PS: What has happened to Cpt. Anastasios Lekkas?

Hi,:) I see on the list Dru Pavlov is the CD on Millie....any

idea if he will be on board in December?

I guess it would depend on when he actually boarded~are the

CD's on the same kind of contracts as others?.....certain months

on and off?

Lekkas was Captain on the Zenith this past June and the Staff Captain Isodoros (last name?) was possibly getting a promotion to full Captain and was possibly taking over the Zenith but talk about politics because that has always been Margaritas ship and he wanted it back. Well I head that Margaritas might go to the Galaxy which is usually Peppas ship but now I see Mitropolus is on the Zenith and Margaritas is MIA. Hmmm ... the plot has thickened!

I see one of two problems here, either I am cruising on Celebrity way too much or I am drinking with the Captains way too much! Can't wait to get on the Connie in September - I don't know anyone there yet!!!

CDs like the other officers on the ships work a 4 months on and 2 months off cycle. Activity staff works 6 months on and 2 months off. The rest of the crew works 8 months on and 2 off.

You have fill in officers that will work the two months then either to vacation or the next assignment.

X has played with what is called a yoyo position. Where the ACD moves up to CD while the CD is on vacation then back down. It caused a lot of problem in morality and has passed. They were doing the same thing with the officers as well.

I have been in the same boat with CDs and activity staff. With the birth of the little and some of the CDs and staff moving on to other jobs, I feel like I'm falling out of the loop.

who is the cruise director on Galaxy? Any info on how you would rate them?

Woo

When we disembarked Galaxy on June 2nd, Shawn Cavanah was going on a holiday. I do not know if he is back but no-one has given a replacement's name. Shawn is good at providing daytime activities but some find his humor grating.
