NCL Mastercard FAQ

The level of stateroom you can "upgrade to" seems to vary by ship and sailing date. For our upcoming 14 day cruise on the Dawn booked LONG AGO I went from inside I1 to aft facing balcony B1 using points. For the last couple cruises I tried to use points to go to aft facing balcony but it was not allowed. However :) I was able to snag one of the two forward facing BC balconies on the Sun for next May so I am still a happy sailor.

You are better off talking directly to someone at NCL who can do the Worldpoints upgrade. Find the stateroom you want, then call NCL and ask what you need to book in order to do the upgrade using Worldpoints. Don't book an oceanview first and then find out what you want to end up with is not available. I guess if you really want your travel agent involved (ie for extra perks or something) you could transfer the booking in the allowed timeframe after you have the stateroom you want.

Alternatively, book the cabin you want and then call and they will reprice to reflect the required inside category. That's what we did when we were in the starboard of those two now facing BCs....beat balconies in the fleet IMHO.

When I was unable to use the double cross meta upgrade to go from inside to aft facing balcony on the Sun I asked if they would check and see if either of the two forward facing BC's were open ... never dreaming they would be since cruise is this coming May. One was open :) so we are paying for an IC inside and ending up with what I agree is one of the best balcony staterooms in the NCL fleet. I booked for 4 passengers but our best friends and cruising buddies are going to pass on this one - - won't take them off the booking yet but it may be just Larry and I with all that space :)

  • 2 weeks later...

If I have charged let's say 3,000 towards our cruise, final payment hasn't happened and I need to cancel the cruise, Would I only get this money as a Credit on my NCL card? I know that going through insurance I would get it back through them, But if it's before time where I woud loose money for cancelling... I think I already know the answer... but I might be wrong

I am not 100% sure I understand your question. If final payment has not happened, you usually get all your money returned the same way you paid for it - if you paid on your NCL credit card, then it would be credited back to your card. I don't believe travel insurance would even be involved with this, until there might be some sort of financial penalty for cancelling. In any case, it would always be to your advantage to cancel before final payment if you know you have to cancel.

I just booked my next cruise on the Escape through my favorite travel agency (booked directly with NCL and then transferred to my TA prior to final payment).

So I get my invoice and they only gave me 1 point per dollar. I explain that I purchased an NCL cruise and I'm supposed to get 2 points per dollar and can provide the confirmation of deposit from NCL as well as the final payment from the TA and NCL. I called to complain and after 3 separate calls and a lot of arguing, they tell me that I would only get 2 points per dollar if I book directly with NCL!

Am I missing something on this? I mean what's the worth if I'm going to get 1 point per dollar on my cruise?

Something isn't right. How did the charge show up on your credit card bill? Did it say NCL Reservations USD MIAMI or your travel agency? I used a travel agency to book my NCL Getaway cruise using my NCL Bank of America CC and I had no problems getting my bonus points.

The charge on my card does not state NCL anywhere as the bill is coming from my travel agent. But I told them I can forward bill from TA that clearly shows the NCL cruise and charges etc. / Said it doesn't matter and I only got 1 point per dollar because charge didn't come directly from NCL!

Hmm, take it up with the travel agent? It should have been billed as a charge thru NCL not them to get the bonus points. Confusing I know.

I wouldn't use a TA that bills through something other than NCL. Some of them (not saying yours does) hold your money and then don't pay it towards your cruise until final payment is due. I have read horror stories of the TA's going under in this time and the people losing their money.

Just saying, that is one of the first things I would ask when looking for a TA. The charge should come right from the cruiseline.

One of the perks of the card says "opportunities for last minute cruises' date=' and other special cruise offers".

Has anyone ever been offered one of these deals (last minute cruise)? Are they emailed or available to view anywhere?

Thanks!![/quote']

Nope:mad:

Maybe your travel agent backed out the original transaction with NCL and put the whole transaction through the travel agent to get all the commission so it was no longer a two point transaction on your NCL MasterCard! I guess this can happen by accident or by TA desire for max commission. If it is before your final payment date maybe the TA can correct it for you to get your correct two points per dollar.

Hi... I have read through the boards, but my question was answered about 4 years ago.. When I charge and than see pending points earned, Do I have to wait for that statment to either come to me or Pay it off in order to get the points. And When I call in to redeem them Do you still need a good month to make sure you get the paper work and resend it back...so it can get sent to on boardaccount. (with Carnival, you make a call to redeem, you get a email saying what you did and it's put right on your onboard account)

on mine the points were on as soon as the next statement is generated. Whether you make a payment or not.

So I finally received the missing extra points. How do I go about getting the $50 OBC added to my existing already paid for cruise (I used a travel agent)?

I spent a long time on the phone with NCL MC and I now get a few questions I had,,, to Redeem call 1-866-954-4077 Points go from Pending to points 30 days after the day of charge. (not by statement date?) If your doing OBC have your booking number or reservation number handy so they can ADD it right to your on board account, and Make sure you ask for a conformation number and a email and even snail mail for your records to bring with you on the ship.

your welcome, let us know how you make out!

SUCCESS! bjinouno Thanks for the number.

It took me a few warm transfers but I finally got to the right place the rep knew exactly what to do. Now it's on my account and she emailed me the Amenity Invoice which shows my beverage package along with the $50 OBC. I'm bringing that all important document with me onboard just in case there's a problem. Rep said it would not show on my cruise account at MYNCL.com

Thanks again!

Talked to Blaine @ 1-866-954-4077 to redeem points.

He knew what he was doing.

We did a Double Cross Meta Upgrade(from inside cabin to a BA mid-ship balcony) for 60,000 points($600.00, we saved about $1300.00 .

Congratulations :) I really love the Double Cross Meta Upgrade, hope it continues. We booked an unobstructed oceanview stateroom on the NCL Jewel on Monday with adult beverage package and 6 meal specialty dining for 14 day Panama Canal cruise in Feb 2017. Thought about it and decided this cruise was much better use of DCMU than our Alaska Sun cruise this May. Called NCL and asked to speak to a Worldpoint specialist who could assist with Double Cross Meta Upgrade. I cancelled the Sun cruise entirely and reused the 60,000 points to REPRICE the Panama Canal cruise paying for inside stateroom but receiving balcony. New price for BB (my choice) balcony stateroom is almost $1,000 LESS than we were going to pay for the oceanview stateroom.
