I run about 8 miles a day. The only thing I invest in for my feet is running shoes.

Awesome! You are therefore off the manly pedicure hook with an excellent excuse! :o

Do you run on the track on the ship as well, or do you take a break when on vacation?

I don't run when cruising mostly because I don't want to deal with the dirty sweaty clothes. And it is good to take a break occasionally but since I am rather compulsive it doesn't happen often. So I use cruising as my break time. But I do look forward to getting in some good walking time when in the ports of call. And I do a LOT of walking on the ships. I can't sit still for very long.

Got home from AD today, and I can confirm that Anthony Richards is the CD and Capt. Gronhaug is the master. We had a great week aboard! For those who are wondering, we had no difficulties with embarkation or disembarkation. We arrived at the port at 12:50 pm, there was a priority baggage drop for Emerald and above, I think, and a priority boarding line, for Diamond and above (farthest in to the left - nearest the terminal building, outside) which was very short. We had to wait a few minutes, as neither the priority line or the regular lines were moving, but were on board by 1:30. Cabins were ready at 2:00. We got in line on deck 5 outside the dining room to disembark at 10:00 am, took about 45 minutes to get off, find our bags, clear customs and get in a cab, and were through security at the airport by 11:45. We'll post a review later this week.

Just read on another thread that apparently smoking is allowed in the pub on the Royal Promenade  If this is in fact true, I will be very disappointed. They disallowed this several years ago and it was great not to have to walk through a plume of smoke on the Promenade. Good to hear that formal nights in the casino are still non-smoking.

I wish they would do away with smoking in cruise ships altogether....

Okay, that's my rant for the day. :D

That's surprising since Adventure still has the Sport's Bar on the promenade (at least for another year), and that usually serves as the promenade smoking lounge. Maybe a different HD has different preferences?

Just of Adventure Sun.

Robyn yes the pub was smoking and smelled so bad we never went in, sat outside people watching.

As for the screens, we had a Jr Suite the first week and it had a nice flat screen, however the second week we had a balcony on deck 7 and it had an old chunky TV with bad screen quality.

That is very disappointing. It is my favorite hangout on the Promenade.

I'm afraid that in a year when the sports bar is replaced with Vintages, there will be even less incentive to make the pub non-smoking. I suppose we can always go to England and cruise on Adventure. I believe there's no indoor smoking at all when the ship cruises out of England.

At that tends to surprise me as the last time that I was in London I remember commenting on how many young people seemed to be smoking around the city.

We're definitely here already!!!! Left a very snowy and miserable England yesterday, just so happy to be back on the Adventure tomorrow for another 4 weeks b2b

Congratulations! We're envious, but we'll join you on Feb. 10. Noticed that you're a July 3 birthday. My husband says he's the fuse on the firecracker for the 4th. Hope to see you onboard. Anita and Steve

That's terrible About the smoking. Well in 300+ days maybe they'll change it

Hello Nick ... hoping you & Barb are well! We head to the Summit in 40+ days & will miss having you with us!

Many of the gang from the AOS 3/12 are heading for the Silhouette on 3/9/14 from Ft Lauderdale ... in case that fits in your plans! :)

Robyn .... I believe they did allow smoking inside but we had a table outside on the promenade in March & the smoke didn't bother us out there! Maybe the amount of smoke depends on the passengers, HD & where the smokers hang out on a particular cruise ... I'd be very disappointed without my Duck & Dog time!

We sailed on Indy out of Southampton in 2011 and the only indoor venue with smoking allowed was the nightclub. This surprised us, as the UK has had a smoking ban on indoor venues for a few years now. It wasn't too bad though - we stuck to the higher level (boyf couldn't drag me to the dancefloor!) and it was much clearer.

I hope it will be the same when AOS sails out of Southampton, as we've become accustomed to not going to bed stinking of smoke after a night out!

Oops, sorry wrong cabin no. ! :o Does anyone know if this grand suite -- 1252- has a flat screen tv and if furnishings differ from other grand suites?

From what I understand, all GS and above have flat screen TV's. in fact, my JS on the AOS also had a flat screen and this was in 2011!

I will be sailing on the AOS in March and I can not wait.

We sailed on the AOS many years ago and loved it.

I love the itinerary!

My motto is you can pick apart every ship, but you are the one that makes the most of your vacation.

Enjoy, I know I'm going to!!!!:)

Couldn't agree more Robyn. We have got so used to smoking not being allowed in any public buildings in the UK that it's even more unpleasant when we come across it when we're travelling. I was looking forward to calling in the pub (it shouldn't really be labelled 'British style' if they smoke in it??) but, if smoking goes on in there as you suggest, we wont be. My DH is even more intolerant than me, he won't even stand near anyone smoking outside in case he shares any of their smoke and he won't buy anything from the pub if it smells of smoke.

Appreciate that some will still want to smoke, as is their right, and I'd be happy if they designated an outdoor space for those wishing to indulge.
