Looking for input. I am interested in where the LOS holds the M&M. I have asked RCCL and been told that it is usually held in the Olive or Twist Lounge. Our only concern is how strong is the smell of cigarette smoke? On our only RCCL cruise, on the SOS, the M&M was held in the cigar lounge. The smell was to strong and DW could not attend. For other events on the same cruise we were in other lounges such as the Schooner and Safari with no problem. What should we expect on this occasion?

Does anyone know how much it cost to use the boxing ring? Can kids box against each other?

Thanks and any help or input.

I don't think they charge for the boxing, I think like the rest of the classes you have to sign up for them, think I read it somewhere on one of the threads, have a search for it just to check.

I think they do charge for the boxing; I'm thinking it was around $10-15 per lesson. One of the (few) disappointments of the cruise: My 13-year old wanted to take a boxing lesson, and they wouldn't let her.

Where is the "baby splash zone" located?
If you walk out of the revolving doors by the elevators and look straight ahead at the H20 zone, the baby splash zone will be to your left. On one side it's bordered by a large round swimming pool, and on the other side it has a wooden seat/edge. The whole area is very plain and is only about 6" deep.

It would only entertain a very small baby. A toddler would be drawn to the much more interesting, colorful areas beyond.

And before anyone asks, yes, the baby zone is in full sun, as is the entire H20 zone. If full sun is a problem, the place is open late. It's busy during the morning and afternoon, but if you wanted to go in the evening you could have the place to yourself.

I didn't take these pictures myself -- that's not my child -- I found them through google images search:

Does the LOS have a steam room in the spa area? Do they charge extra for using it?

Trying to chose between a Promenade Cabin and a Large Outside Stateroom. The Promendade Cabin is smaller, but I like the idea of looking out over the Promenade and parades. Any thoughts on which would be the better cabin? Any considerations in booking a Promenade, such as deck and location.

Thanks.

Does the Liberty of the Seas have bathroom fans? Our family of 4 light sleepers are staying on Deck 3, across from the disco and under another bar on Deck 4.. considered taking a small fan, but read those are taken when checking in... any hope for white noise?

There will be 2 adults and 2 teenaged kids in our oceanview room.. any advice on saving space and negotiating such a small room? Also, are the pullman beds directly over the other bed? We are going in Oct. and so excited!! I am going to need a 12 step program to get off this website!!

Hi, me and my girlfriend are thinking about taking a cruise on this ship in December. I read through much of this thread, but didn't see anything written about the casino. Specifically, is there texas holdem poker available? I've seen some information about a possible texas holdem tournament, but can't find anything concrete to confirm that.

So, does anyone know if there is poker available in the casino and if it is every night or just a special occassion type of thing?

Thanks!

Yes there was a Texas Hold-Em tournament when we sailed her in May. There are also tables to play Texas Hold-Em.

We LOVED our promenade cabins!! I would book these over an outside (and save money too) now that I have experienced them. We were on deck 8 center of the promenade. I think I would have preferred deck 7 center because you would have a better view of the parades from your room if that is where you want to watch them. We travelled with our young girls and it was late (11:30pm) when they started and the thought of bringing them down to the promenade crammed with hundreds of other passengers to watch the parade was not appealing. They loved their view from the comfort of their cabin. I definitely wouldn't go lower than 7. Being center meant that it was a long hike from either set of elevators, but that was OK for us. If you are an early to bed person, I do not recommend promenade rooms because you can hear the music they play during parades/parties in the promenade. I also liked the fact that we could leave the curtains opened a crack for the girls so there was some light streaming into the room and it wasn't pitch black for them. The rooms are TINY, but fine for the minimal time you're in there. Ours did feel bigger because we had the two connecting rooms though, so it's hard for me to say whether or not I felt it was too small. I peeked into a verandah cabin, and it didn't look that much bigger to me. The thought of all 4 of us in a verandah was scary compared to getting 2 inside promenades!

I much preferred to people watch and see what was going on down in the promenade to having a view of the vast ocean....nothing but ocean....but that's my opinion!:D

I seem to recall that when you TURN ON the lights, a bathroom fan comes on. But they are connected. You cannot have one on without the other. If you need the whitenoise of the bathroom fan, that comes with keeping your bathroom door opened with the lights from it turned on all night. I remember having to quickly close the door whenever I turned on the bathroom lights so I wouldn't wake anyone in the cabin with the fan noise....

We did this exact same travel scenario. We landed at FLL and had a reservation at the Hilton Ft Lauderdale airport which has free shuttle service from the airport to the hotel. We waited for about 10 minutes for the shuttle and then only half our party of 8 fit because there were quite few other people waiting for the same shuttle! However, they sent another one quickly.

The next morning we had SAS shuttle service drive us down to the POM at 10:00. Steve from SAS arrived at exactly 10:00 and got us to the POM in front of the Liberty by 10:25. Fast and efficient, and very cheap. $15 pp and $10 for kids.

I found this service on these boards and they come highly recommended.

Enjoy your cruise!

Hum, you are making me wondering if we should switch down a deck. We are currently in a Family Promenade Cabin on 8. How was the noise level on 8? Our kids will be fairly young (4 and 1.75).

I dont believe Royal charges for the use of the steam room/sauna's on any ship. The one on the Explorer was pretty much empty on a 9 night cruise. It seemed as if the same five or six people were using it, and we were always entering when someone was leaving, or we were leaving and someone else was entering. To give you a heads up, you may see someone steaming in the buff!

I'm also stuck between an OCV and Promenade Cabin. Since going to my first balcony, it's even harder, since we have had one IS (1st cruise), and two balconies. I'm in the final decision days, and waiting to see if flights go down before deciding to book. Airfare from PHL to MIA is around $340.00 roundtrip for the January 9th cruise. If the air price drops by around $50-80, we'll definitely go with the balcony. I think our best option is to take Southwest to FLL and take SAS into Miami.

The noise level will be the same regardless of which deck you're on if you're in a promenade room. Going down a deck will not make a difference. The speakers for the parades are RIGHT BESIDE the windows of deck 8, and the noise just fills the entire promenade. In addition to the music, there are also the lights (think dance club parties!) that are used during the parties But if you have the curtains closed tightly, the lights won't be a problem, but the music definitely will. The last parade/party of the week seemed to last long and started late too. My girls (8 and 6) didn't fall asleep until midnight! You don't hear any other noise from the promenade during the day up on deck 8. ONLY during parties.

What are the family promenades like? Are they more expensive than getting 2 connecting promenades? I loved having the girls in the one room with the connecting door opened at all times and DH and I in the other. The TWO bathrooms were the absolute best for us. DH is now spoiled by the space of two cabins and will only want to cruise that way from now on!

shopgirl - for the family room you need 5 people. I did however ask if you could pay for a 5th and only have 4 in it and they said yes. The price was $80 more than 2 cabins for 4 people. (at the time there was only 4 of us going, since then my sister-in-law is now coming so it is a much better price than 2 cabins) Plus I am told you get a bath tub which will be nice with the little one.
