My Two Cents re: Eurodam..........

Boston provided a bright, beautiful sunny day for Eurodam's first visit to our fair city.

DH and I had the opportunity to board and visit and have a 'look see'.

We boarded about 10:30, spent some hours aboard and so very much enjoyed our visit.

We think her BEAUTIFUL. I love that ship. I think the color scheme modern and rich and tasteful. The browns and butterscotch colors...the reds. We love Pinnacle Bar....Pinnacle. Sports Bar is fun and as it should be. Casino is large to accomodate the larger number of guests. The retreat is fine and I can understand folks wishing to 'retreat' there. I don't care for the cabanas at Lido pool but it's a big so what. I don't think them a major problem at least for cruises other than in the Caribbean. May be a little crowded with lots of folks at the pool for a warm weather cruise. Lido Pool is lovely with the fountain instead of the bronze sculpture. I love Eurodam is the next generation and is modern and current and a 'new mood'. It all works for me and few are Traditional about HAL than me.

The Sea View Pool is great. Love the bar. The canopy coverings are nice. Show Lounge seating looks fine and sight lines are good. I made a point to look at the glass holders. :) (Wonder if they've gotten new glasses to fit. :D )

Tamarind and Silk Den are outstanding. We love the soft green coloring.......the decorating is fabulous there IMO

We were fortunate to view the exchange of Plaque which took place in Queen's Lounge. We've never seen that before and enjoyed seeing Coast Guard and Pilots there.

We were delighted to meet up with crew members we know from other ships and had wonderful visits with a number of them.

We had the opportunity for lunch in Dining Room or Pinnacle but declined both and continued to look around. Just before we left, we stopped in Lido for a quick sandwich.

Lido is sleeker, cleaner lines than other ships but very efficient and fabulous variety as on all the ships.

We even came home with Inaugural Plate and book and gifts. We thank those on Eurodam who saw to it we received these things. We are very happy to add them to our collection.

We have two cruises booked on Eurodam for March and cannot wait to settle in and spend some time aboard.

Well done IMO. I think HAL did lots of things VERY right on her.

JMHO.....

Sail sounds like you had a great morning....I am so jealous I wish I could see her, get an Inaugural Plate and especially a sandwich in the Lido:D (it is lunch time and I am hungry;) )

I am extremely excited to see her in December and know we too will love her.

Thanks for sharing your visit with us S7S!:D

I would think it would be a couple of years before she makes it over to the "Left Coast". Despite the reported lack of public space, I look forward to cruising aboard and trying Tamarind or Caneletto!:D

Sher........ Tamarind is stunningly beautiful. We will definitely be making reservations to dine there. We also loved Silk Den. The views of the City of Boston from there were gorgeous on this bright, sunny day.

I was apprehensive what I would think about Eurodam after all I read and boarded with an open mind to see what my own instincts and reactions were. We felt comfortable and excited and thrilled for this new ship immediately.

It was our choice to start from the top decks and work our way down to view everything. Even still, we did not see all there was to see but that makes us more eager to return soon for our booked cruises.

We had about 2 hours to tour the ship and we did not see as much as I would have liked to!

Aha, it's good to be the Society of Mariners rep!;)

1. Could you understand the hotel manager? (Since he apparently speaks limited and/or broken English according to some)

2. See the infamous "Rev step" (in the Lido)?

3. Did Igor make the switch from Maasdam to Eurodam looking for Abbie Normal?

4. Were you able to persuade DH not to wear a HAL robe in the Lido?

5. Do you like the inaugural plate?

:D In the order asked: :) (good thing I've read all the Eurodam threads or would have no idea what you mean ;) )

We had a most enjoyable chat with Mr. Kuppens and had no need for an interpretor. ;)

Ahhh.... the infamous step. We managed to avoid breaking a leg or worse!

Abbie will never be normal and Igor remains on Maasdam. :D

You say what??? DH is a classy guy. He only wears his robe to Neptune. Nay to Lido. I took careful note on our recent cruise to see out of 14 days, he appeared in Neptune a full 6 times robed. Seeing as our cabin door was one step from Neptune's, it was a total of two minutes he was out of cabin wrapped in terry. If anyone had a problem with that, we are unaware. He was by no means the only one to don robe and fetch coffee.

We love the Inaugural Plate. The edging is different from the others in our collection. It, like the ship it represents, has a slightly more modern feel to it and it looks grand displayed with all the other HAL plates.

We are also thrilled to have received the larger tiles. They're fabulous. While I enjoy getting all the Mariners tiles, the larger special event tiles are extra special. We have just about enough tiles to do a full counter top at this point. :)

I'm glad you had the opportunity to tour the ship. Yes, she is a lovely vessel. The Tamarind and Silk Den are just stunning additions, IMO. You'll enjoy sailing on her, too.

Nice report Sail.

I agree with Jim, (and you) Tamarind is great with excellent food and very friendly lady servers from Bali.

We only had lunch during our prelude cruise, but had we sailed for a longer period we would have been back for another lunch and certainly also for diner.

Hey! I tripped over that step before Greg did. Why are you naming it after him?

I will admit, though, calling it the "Rev step" has a better ring to it.

Yeah, that's why I named it the Rev step - but it can just as easily be the Ruth step;)
