uncleg Posted July 15, 2016 #851 Share Posted July 15, 2016 HelloI'm booked on a 1A on the Sunshine for the end of August. Just wondered of anyone has been in 1606 and if there's a sofa besides the top bunk. Thanks, Evy I found this on Carnival Website. This will be my Cabin for OCT 2017 cruise. Stateroom #: 1606 Category: Category 1A - Interior Upper/Lower Stateroom Description: Interior staterooms feature one twin bed and one upper Pullman-style bunk bed, three closets, desk and chair, and private bathroom with shower. All staterooms are equipped with thermostat controlled air-conditioning, refrigerator and mini bar, television, telephone, 24-hour room service, hairdryer, bathrobes and personal safe. Bonnie J. Posted July 15, 2016 #852 Share Posted July 15, 2016 We have had these cabins. Each time we ask for a roll-a-way bed. They bring it in and make up the two beds as one. Instead of being against the wall they bring both beds out into the room. Makes for less floor space but who cares. No one has to sleep in the bunk.
NCTribeFan Posted August 19, 2016 #853 Share Posted August 19, 2016 HelloI'm booked on a 1A on the Sunshine for the end of August. Just wondered of anyone has been in 1606 and if there's a sofa besides the top bunk. Thanks, Evy I found this on Carnival Website. This will be my Cabin for OCT 2017 cruise.... I had 1402 on Triumph. Looking at the deck plans for the 2 ships, it would seem they're the same (since Triumph and Victory were just Destiny with slight changes). In fact, my photos are shown for that cabin on cruiselinerooms dot com which is another useful source for finding what some of the cabins actually look like. Yes, there's a sofa but it's a small one, not one that can be made into a bed. I also tried to describe it fully in my review (it was a 2-night CTN out of Norfolk in October 2009). You can find my reviews by clicking on my name, then the stats tab, then look at "all threads started by me." Most of my threads are reviews, so shouldn't be too difficult to find. Open door, small sofa directly across from door, closets and bathroom to the right; bed and desk to the left. Small, but fine for solo, which I was on that sailing (my first solo). Rather a lot of noise from the elevator shaft directly behind the wall, though!
crusinpsychRN Posted August 19, 2016 #854 Share Posted August 19, 2016 NCTribeFan, have you been adding any new cabin photos to cruisedeckplans? Some of them are really old--have the amenities in the bowl in the bathroom!

angela12345 Posted November 19, 2016 #856 Share Posted November 19, 2016 (edited) I have 1A cabin 6393 on Conquest Feb 4 2017. I'm getting ready to cancel this reservation within the next couple days. If anyone wants it I will coordinate my cancellation with you. This is one of the special 1A's that is slightly larger than a normal interior cabin, plus it has 2 twin beds on the floor that can be left separate or pushed together for a king ! Edit: oops, I mean Feb 4 2017. 8 day cruise to Grand Turk, Dominican Republic, Curacao, Aruba . Edited November 19, 2016 by angela12345
Thoth Posted January 2, 2017 #857 Share Posted January 2, 2017 I prefer to book early and get one of those 1A rooms which are cheaper. Being that I'm charged 200% single supplement that difference adds up. So for March 2018 I've booked 8357 on the Conquest Fort Lauderdale to Aruba, Curacao, Dominican Republic, and Grand Turk. Back in September I had 7345 one deck down and loved it. :)

tootsiebit Posted February 23, 2017 #859 Share Posted February 23, 2017 Thinking about booking the Carnival Valor cabin 7345. Saw some old pictures where the beds are on the floor, but sure would like to know if anyone has been in this cabin recently and if it still the same setup or not. Any help would be so appreciated. Saw some old pictures where the beds are on the floor, but sure would like to know if anyone has been in this cabin recently and if it still the same setup or not. Any help would be so appreciated. I understand your hesitation. We felt the same way when we were first booking a 1A. We sailed Valor 1 year ago in cabin 6393 and it did have that setup. My husband and I had it setup as a king, not 2 twins. 7345 is the cabin directly above 6393 and it also had that setup. Actually, I like the setup on Valor better than the same cabin on some of the other ships as the bed is setup as a king in the nook on the right, allowing you to pass by the foot end of the bed between the bed and the desk on the left. Rather than have the king straight in front of you and you pass between the left side of the bed and the desk on the left with much less room to pass by. The layout flows much better with the king in the nook on the right.

StephenA Posted February 1, 2019 #866 Share Posted February 1, 2019 (edited) Just booked cabin 2208 on the Magic for Jan 2020 for me solo. Only 1A’s left available that had the convertible sofa were 2203,2204,2207,2208. I was able to find pictures and a video of the layout of the 2203/2204 rooms but nothing anywhere on line with pictures of the other two. Was wondering if anybody knew the layout of these two, i.e. bed and sofa in the L shape that they are in the 1A porthole rooms, or if they are shaped more like 2203/2205 (square with vanity in middle and one bed to the left or right of door and sofa to the opposite side. Also any opinions from all you expert 1A-ers on which of these four rooms you would choose if those were your only 1A options? Thanks! Oh yea...this thread rocks!!! Awesome info 🙂 Edited February 1, 2019 by StephenA

surf kahuna Posted March 6, 2021 #870 Share Posted March 6, 2021 Is this the end of 1A cabins ? Can’t find 1A cabins on Mardi Gras deck plan !!!!
papadave Posted March 7, 2021 #871 Share Posted March 7, 2021 The last time I checked Freedom, Fascination and Liberty still had 1A cabins. That much said, a lot of ships are in dry dock right now while sailing is on pause, so changes are possible. I have been on a couple of short (4 night, 5 night) cruises in a 1A and was completely comfortable. However, there was no threat of quarantine during those cruises, so it was just a place with a bed and a bathroom. At the time (and this was close to 10 years ago) the cabins were $239 or $249 per person for the entire cruise, so it is hard to imagine Carnival making any money on passengers who take these cabins to be thrifty. Of course, a cruise line makes more money on casino revenue and other things, but it is hard to imagine the cruise fare I paid covered the cost of meals, clean sheets and clean towels. On a short cruise, I would take a 1A cabin at a low price without hesitation.

I'm solo and booked a 1A porthole on Vista, the one next to a OV, so it's almost 220 sf and you can see out, but the beds dont push together. Stayed in the one opposite last time on vista. Solo was $860 when I booked, but now is over $1000, popular date. Worried sept 2021 will get cancelled. Each time I rebook the prices are higher. I had pictures but not sure I can access them on this tablet. Some of us dont need beds that push together and would rather have the larger cabin you can see out of. I dont have any that really show how much larger these cabins are than a inside, but almost 60 sf larger.

We have enjoyed both cabin types on Fantasy, Spirit, Dream and Vista Class ships. Maybe the Excellence Class won't be so excellent for us. We have 3 PTs booked now.
