I just had 2444 for 21 days on the recent Journeys B2B on the Triumph (Oct 24- Nov 14). Friends were jealous of all the room I had. There is still an old type TV on the vanity and a single bed. I loved the cabin.

 

I did notice when the captain was going at higher speeds, there was quite a bit of vibration and noise. When going slower, it was almost non existent. Didn't bother me at all. Would take this cabin again in a heartbeat.

...and I had cabin 2445 on the 2nd/10 day journeys cruise from SJ to Galveston (Nov 4-14) and loved the cabin (I was aware of the size as I had cruised in it before) - and yes everyone was quite surprised at how spacious it was - and I had a newer/smaller flat screen TV on the side of the vanity.

 

I also did feel some very slight vibration when speeding along but for the most part it was super comfortable and a great bargain! :)

ok, just so I have this straight:confused: while trying to decide what cabin to book to save a few $:

 

The Valor's 1A cabins 6393, 7345 and 8357 would have 2 twin beds that could be pushed together. They look larger than other 1As on the deck plans I'm checking.

 

PT cabins are currently pricing out $80 more for the two of us for a 5 day itinerary. I believe they have a sofa while the above 1As do not.

PT rooms are much longer, allowing space for the sofa, and the actual square footage might be more than those three 1As.

Yep! Loved your shirts. Started to ask about the shirts when I saw several passing the way by the casino.

 

I used a red rolling walker and wore a black and red boa most of the time. Halloween I was a cleopatra in a black wig. With glitter eye decals.

Info on the 1A cabins is still useful to me and I know it is to others. If it weren't for what is posted here, I probably wouldn't have tried my first 1A cabin. Now these cabins are my first choice when it is just me and my daughter sailing.

I have gone through all (!!) the pages in this thread and did not find any further updates after this update in post # 39. Does anyone have a new/more complete list ?? It would also be helpful to know which rooms are/seem to be larger than a normal inside cabin, and which are smaller than a normal inside. And any other little tidbits of information specific to certain 1A cabins if anyone has a list of that. For example, noise, etc. Thanks in advance !

I completely disagree. I would MUCH prefer one thread with all the information pertaining to one subject together rather than having to open each and go thru 45 threads each having 10+ replies, having to read the same questions asked and the same answers given over & over & over just to find little nuggets of new information.

The list you quoted is certainly quite old. A few years ago, on another thread, I did a write-up of the unusual 1As on several ships. I'll paste it here, add in Vista, and I'll try to spot any changes that have happened since.

 

If a particular room number is not mentioned here, that means that the room has one regular bed & one upper bunk, no view, & is not handicapped. Some of this is different than the list on the first post of the “Everything 1A” thread. For those few rooms, I am going with what cruisedeckplans & Carnival’s website both agree to be the case for that room. I probably have something wrong, but I did my best. I’ve added a few comments regarding room size, based on measurements I (or others) took, having stayed in one of those rooms.

 

FANTASY class: Decks 4, 6, & 7. All are one twin bed plus an upper, and have been measured as being approximately 150 sq.ft.

 

SPIRIT class: only 5 of these rooms per ship (deck 1). All have 2 regular twin beds, can be pushed together.

 

DESTINY / SUNSHINE: Decks 1 (fwd & aft), 2 (fwd & aft), 6 (fwd)

Rooms with one regular bed, one upper, & 2 portholes: 1101, 1102, 1105, 1106

Rooms with one regular bed, one sofa bed, & 2 portholes: 2101, 2102, 2105, 2106

Rooms with one regular bed, one upper, and 2 picture windows: 2334, 2335

Handicapped room: 1309

 

TRIUMPH class: Decks 1 (fwd & aft), 2 (fwd & aft), 6 (fwd)

Rooms with one regular bed, one upper, & 2 portholes: 1201, 1202, 1205, 1206

Rooms with one regular bed, one sofa bed, & 2 portholes: 2211, 2212, 2216, 2217. I measured 2212 to be 185 sq.ft, and 2216 to be 195 sq.ft.

Rooms with one regular bed, one sofa bed, & no view: 2201, 2202, 2207, 2208

Rooms with one regular bed, one upper, and 2 picture windows: 2444, 2445. measured to be approximately 230-235 sq.ft. There might have been a 2nd standard bed added to one or more of these rooms (4 of these rooms in total on the 2 ships), but I cannot confirm anything there.

VISTA: Decks 1 (fwd, mid, aft), 2 (fwd & mid). That's all.

I'm finding this ship confusing to distinguish which ones have portholes on decks 1 & 2 and which ones don't. I can't find any consistency there. It's safe to assume that 2211, 2212, 2216, & 2217 have portholes. Carnival's deck plans are saying that 2207 has portholes, but there is no mention of portholes for 2208, 2203, or 2204. It would seem that all 4 on deck 1 have portholes.

Of those 12 rooms in the forward of decks 1 & 2, all have a sofa bed except 1205 & 1206, which use an upper instead.

I can't find any HC info on this ship.

Nothing so special about 1A's. They are often very small cabins with a single bed or bunk beds...usually in the small corners of the ship...kinda shoved in to utilize otherwise wasted space. But they are usually the least expensive cabin to book and, because of their size and cost, a great value for single cruisers. Thanks for the link to the cruise deck plans site, it's the first time I've seen it.

There are lots of things that are "special" about 1As. Some of them, at least, which was the main purpose of this thread - to let people know about the ones that are different from how they're described on the generic deck plans (and by many/most TAs and even PVPs who aren't aware that there's anything "special" about some cabins).

 

I've used Cruisedeckplans forever. Very useful site. I use their drag decks to check what is above and/or below a cabin before I book.

 

Looking at the 1As on Splendor on Panorama. Located just forward of the pool area and under the slide landing. Wondering if anyone has any first-hand info on noise. I'm a morning person, so kids thumping around up there around the pool probably wouldn't be an issue. But the big, loud, giant TV at night might be. I realize there are sliding doors as you enter the cabin area, but if people are going in and out all night while the movies are on, with lots of foot traffic, I might not be too happy.

 

And before you suggest it, ear plugs don't work well for me. I do use a white noise app on my phone.

 

Anyone have any thoughts?

You may have to wait a while. She just finished only her 3rd sailing. And the chances that the people in those cabins are Cruise Critic members is probably small. And the chances that even if they are, that they'll come back and post photos is probably smaller.

 

I had a 1A on my very first cruise on Jubilee that was right where the hull bends toward the bow. It was huge! My friend's "regular" 1A across the hall was tiny.

 

Those cabins may be as large as they look on the deck plans, but it's also quite likely that they aren't. Which, again, is the point of this thread - to let people know about the various 1A that aren't standard.

 

Maybe you'll get lucky and someone will report back. You may want to start a thread in the Everything Vista sub-forum that may get more views than this thread.

I will be in a 1A porthole cabin on the Vista - but not till October!!! :)

 

However I would think they will look similar to other 1A's - specifically the Breeze as the decor seems to be the same? You may try wish to try to find pics of 2203/04 from the Breeze to get an idea of what they would look like on the Vista?
