I was on the Truimph for the 2013 Halloween cruise. Room 2444 was part of our Cabin Crawl. We had an extended aft balcony balcony (8435). I wondered why our Cabin Crawl included a tiny 1A on Main. Wow, was I shocked. This room is listed as a "interior", but has two large unobstructed picture windows. It had a large bed (two twins next to each other). I assume that one was a roll away as mentioned by a previous poster. This room is seriously spacious (considerably larger than my aft extended balcony that cost about twice as much). After the Cabin Crawl, I went to Internet area to check for a future booking. I then went to the future cruise desk and paid $279 per person for the 2/15/14 cruise. I was very pleased with myself. About three weeks before sailing, I received a call from Carnival asking why I booked a little 1A (they said it did not match my platinum profile). They offered upscale to an Ocean Suite for $350. I accepted. An OS for $454. #winning. While on board the Magic, I plan to book my little 2444 for my next cruise. This room should really be reclassified by Carnival, but I plan on repeatedly booking it until they do so.

My sister stayed in a 1A on our last cruise on the dream. Hers was all way forward on Rivera and so far forward she could of had the steering wheel in her cabin.. LOL. It was at end of hall, my cabin was a aft balcony on deck 7. Talk about a walk..... Took me over 5 minutes just to get down to her end of the ship. Anyhow. it has 2 portholes and 2 twin beds and sofa.

When we have had cabins with one lower twin and one upper pull down we just ask for a roll-a-way. It is brought in, put next to the lower, then both beds are made as one bed. this is like any cabin where the two beds are put together. Granted you don't have a lot of floor space but you can walk around the beds. We have no problems with a 1A cabin for this reason. Many people don't know to ask for the roll-a-way but we do it when we book so they are together when we get on the ship.

Staying in Triumph 2444 in a couple weeks. Should I call Carnival now and request this or when I am already on the ship?

They will get reclassified. When the Destiny became the Sunshine, those 2 rooms in the same spots as Triumph's 2444/2445 got reclassified as OVs. Once 2444 & 2445 on both Victory & Triumph get the 2nd twin bed put in each, it won't take long for them to get reclassified. The days are numbered for these as 1As, so take advantage of them while you can. Although you definitely got a good deal for the OS. I don't understand the thing about not matching platinum profile, as I've had 1As as platinum, but it worked for you.

In regards to the porthole rooms, keep in mind that any room with portholes that has the 2 twin beds (or king bed when pushed together) is NOT a 1A. Those are category PT (porthole). They are usually about $20pp higher than a 1A. There are some 1As that include portholes, but there is only 1 twin bed in those, plus an upper bunk or sofabed.

Interesting to note the change in 2444 on the Victory. When I stayed in it 7 or 8 years ago it had only one twin but had room for a second one. I am glad it now has 2 twins but I agree it will soon become a higher class of cabin.

Sounds like it was just an upsell call. I've been Platinum for quite a while and often sail in 1As because I often sail solo. Platinum has nothing to do with it. When I have to pay 200% (and I almost never book an OV; I prefer a dark IS cabin), I book the cheapest cabin I can, which is usually a 1A.

Platinum profile? How do they think I managed to get to Platinum?!? :p

FTR, I ended up booking 2217 on Splendor for the Bermuda cruise. I had considered it for repo in November. Had wanted 7345 but discovered that, unlike the Conquest class ships, it did NOT have two beds but was truly an upper/lower and since I have someone joining me, we took a regular inside.

But the Bermuda cruise is SO expensive (in my opinion, at least), I went with 2217. Depending on whether or not I end up solo, I may move to an inside 1A. I truly prefer to have no light coming in windows. And since I had problems with waves slamming against the hull on Glory, I may just go with a midship 1A if no one joins me.

Hey NCTribeFan - I am considering the Bermuda cruise and see that all the PT's are gone. I will probably get a 1A porthole if they are still available when I book. If you do cancel 2217 - can you let me know ajekamps@live.ca - I would rather get a regular PT room than the 1A. Thanks!!

2217 is a 1A with porthole (not a "regular" ph). One bed, one sofa bed. The other 3 1As with PH are still open (2211, 2212, 2216). When you're looking for them, you have to select upper/lower - NOT upper/lower w/porthole.

I'm having my usual internal debate - if I keep the forward cabin, I'm concerned I won't sleep well because of waves crashing against the hull. If I move to a mid-ship with upper/lower, someone will decide to join me and we'll have to shell out more money to get a regular inside so neither oldster has to climb the ladder.

I do this every time. :o

Plus, I'm even considering booking the cruise prior to the Bermuda sailing for a 13-night B2B. If I were to have sleep issues in that forward cabin, I'll be homicidal after several nights. I really do need my sleep. After having a horrible last-night sleep on Pride in my wonderful aft balcony cabin (I was shaken awake over and over and over and had a 5+ hour drive home the next morning), and after having really enjoyed 7345 on Conquest, I'm seriously considering moving.

Decisions, decisions.

Is it true the closer the cabin is towards the front of the ship, the less space there is between the porthole window and the outside? Or is it the other way around??

I've seen some pictures where it's like looking through long tubes through the portholes with very limited viewing to outside, and wondering if there are any that have a wider viewing scope when looking through it.

I'm booked in cabin 1210 on the Breeze and haven't been able to find any pictures of this particular cabin or porthole view to outside.

It's not that big of an issue as my cruise companion will be living it up 10 decks above in her Spa Suite, so I'll be making very frequent visits to her lol. I'm just curious if it's more forward or more aft to have the wider viewing portholes.

1435 from July 6th cruise on Carnival Conquest. This room is an Upper/Lower.

We booked this room for single occupancy and a balcony for single occupancy because it was cheaper that way. We both stayed in the balcony and did not use this room for much. I was impressed by how spacious the room was. I think that will a little bit better use of space, this could easily be a normal room. You could definitely feel the engines being on the 1st deck.

FYI, cabin 2444 on the Victory is still classified as a 1A. I booked it after doing research online and seeing pics of how huge the room is with 2 picture windows and a king bed. I initially booked it as a solo, but now have a friend joining me- the Carnival rep tried to talk us out of booking a 1A. I'm not sure why this room is considered a 1A but I'm not complaining!

You will enjoy this cabin so much. I liked it much better than a balcony, the price cannot be beat and it was nice and roomy.

I booked my friend and I on Sensation. Was able to get two 1A cabins for the same price as sharing since there was no solo supplement. We were right next to each other but had our own cabins (U67/U69). A bit smaller than regular interior, but great for a solo or with a kid. There was a twin and a Pullman, so wouldn't get this is cruising as a couple. I will cruise solo, and would get a 1A in a heartbeat.

I had an interior booked on my September Splendor cruise. I saw cabin 2216 opened up and I was able to get it with a slight price adjustment because port fees changed. I have had cabin 2217 on Glory and it is a great port hole cabin. Cabin 2216 on Splendor is the same cabin set up but on the other side of the ship.

The port hole cabins book up fast but they do open up so you should keep an eye out for them.

Specifically the Glory... i read the thread (whew!) and seems that all the conquest ships are supposed to have the two twins in this room (the 3 midship 1A's) but want to verify with someone who has been on it please. We will deal with an upper but after a night at the piano bar, no one really wants to go UPSTAIRS to bed :D

Thanks!! Pics would be appreciated too

When we have had these cabins with one twin bed and one pull down bed. We just ask our steward for a roll a way. He brings it and puts it next to the one twin. Then both beds are made up as one as in regular inside cabins. We handle this request before getting on board so both beds are waiting for us when we get to the cabin.

I think its time to get rid of this post!! There are 744 answers to the initial question. If you have a question about them then you ask!

I have 6393 on my upcoming Glory cruise in October. From what I found, it does indeed have 2 twins /1 king on the floor.

Kakidoll, the issue/questions about the three midship 1As on the Conquest class ships was answered before I booked 7345 on Conquest. It should look just like the pics I posted of 7345 last November.

Two beds/king. The upper is not used.

I was very disappointed when I discovered the the same cabins on Splendor are true upper/lower 1As. I'm still considering moving from 2217 if one is still available for Bermuda. That cruise sold absurdly quickly! Balcony & OV cabins sold out about 1-1/2 year in advance.

I just booked Freedom today using a Premier Casino rate for 11/29. I was so disappointed that I wasn't allowed to book a 1A (it wasn't an option; had to book a 4A) because I was hoping to get 7345 again. :(

How do you handle this request (rollaway) before boarding the ship?
