wingnt68 Posted November 29, 2008 #1 Share Posted November 29, 2008 We are sailing in a couple of months with our 2 children who live for Orange Juice and Chocolate Milk. Are these available throughout the day and are they free of charge. Is there fruit punch, lemonade and ice tea as well? Are they free of charge? It is our first sailing on Princess. I know on Carnival they were free and available with the free room service. Please advise.
eandersen Posted November 29, 2008 #2 Share Posted November 29, 2008 Hi there. Orange juice and apple juice are available at the buffet and in the dining room free of charge. I wouldn't count on the chocolate milk. Our kids love hot chocolate, and we just bring our own bottle of chocolate syrup that we pick up at a convenience store before we board. We then order hot milk via room service and mix - you could do the same with cold milk. You can get iced tea free of charge. Fruit punch and lemonade are not available except for a fee...at least that was the case the last time we sailed in June (I've seen some rumors on this board that lemonade may now be available free, but can't confirm). Hope that helps.
Rare mizLORInj Posted November 29, 2008 #3 Share Posted November 29, 2008 Hi. OJ was available at brkfst for free; for fee other than that. One in our party ordered pineapple juice with dinner and paid each time. Iced tea was free. You had to ask for the lemonade but it was free 2 weeks ago on Emerald. ENJOY!! Rare Cruise Raider Posted November 30, 2008 #4 Share Posted November 30, 2008 I have seen hot chocolate packets (the powdered kind) available at the buffets. You could mix them with milk ... I don't imagine they would charge for a little squirt of chocolate sauce, after all, they have it in the kitchen. They have started charging for cranberry juice, though, so might be off base on this. I like to keep my kidneys healthy and noticed the charge for cranberry juice on some lines ...but sometimes they would charge, sometimes not. Heck, I have even seen Princess charge for coffee in the casino (not specialty coffees...just a cup of joe). Guess times are hard for making the profits as they are used to. Juice IS free at breakfast, but any time throughout the rest of the day, no matter where you would request it, there will be a charge. I am pretty sure chocolate milk will be available for the kids in the diningroom, but I would not look for it from room service or from the buffet. Princess offers a lesser variety of free drinks then Carnival.
Rare Coral Posted November 30, 2008 #6 Share Posted November 30, 2008 (edited) Orange Juice, Apple Juice, Milk and Chocolate Milk are available free of charge in the dining room on Princess FOR KIDS. Sorry - I don't know about the buffet. Princess is in the process of putting lemonade on all their ships (for free) but I am not sure where it is offered free. Not sure if it is just the buffet or in the dining room also. Hopefully someone will comment on this. Edited November 30, 2008 by Coral
jean s Posted November 30, 2008 #7 Share Posted November 30, 2008 I am a real milk drinker and have never had to pay for milk in the buffet. I just ask for 2 cartons of milk and take them to my room. I also order a couple of milk and a couple of orange juice from room service each morning and put them in the fridge.

They still don't have the self service machines installed on any ships I've heard about.

capriccio Posted May 8, 2018 #16 Share Posted May 8, 2018 "Coffee Like Product!" Snort!;p I am sailing my FIRST Princess Cruise in June and the Princess Board has convinced me to get a coffee card! :D I'm not a coffee drinker so this recommendation may be suspect :D but my husband loves coffee and he said that should you be sailing on the Royal Princess (or her sister ships the Regal and the Majestic I presume) the coffee is much better than on the other ships due to the way it is made. voljeep Posted May 8, 2018 #17 Share Posted May 8, 2018 Pro-Tip...If you want OJ during the day, order "10" from room service breakfast and pour them into a empty water bottle - or take a tervis type mug with you to the breakfast buffet and fill them up... Yes, those ships have coffee. The others have diesel sludge that is pumped up from the bowels of the ship. ;p
sandij Posted May 8, 2018 #19 Share Posted May 8, 2018 You may find the OJ only at breakfast, so make use of your cabin refrigerator and store some, same for chocolate milk.
grg Posted May 8, 2018 #20 Share Posted May 8, 2018 On the Star my boys would get chocolate milk at the lobby bar by the international café. We had to tell the bartender how to make it (cold chocolate not hot) I don't remember them charging for it. Who could resist a 6 and 4 year old asking for chockie milk! They would ask for it a couple of times a day.

We always save juice in our used soda bottles to use for a mixer later in the day. ie. OJ, cranberry, tomato.

Pucker up. This is a very old thread. Lemonade is available in the buffet during certain hours (not breakfast). I thought it was ok, not great but since I don't drink coffee or tea, I was pleased with it.
