Red user name.

Hi, Can anyone tell me how to put my username back to the "normal" blue that everyone else's is in. I'm actually not sure why it went red. All I changed was my avatar from heart w/ fish to clam under umbrella. When I reloaded the page to make sure my new avatar took, my user name was in bright red. Any help would be appreciated, I'm really not the bright red type. :o

Maybe your view of your user name always was red to you and you never noticed that. I've looked at threads where I've posted recently, and my user name comes up red to me. But I'm guessing it's blue to all of you.

So your seeing yours as red also but I'm seeing it as blue. I guess I never paid close enough attention, but yes yours is blue to me. Well, thanks. I knew I hadn't touched my signature or user name. I figured I was losing it. :eek: :D

I just went to several threads to check, and some names are in red and some in blue? I never noticed before. At first I wondered if the colour indicated whether or not a person was online, but the green lights didn't match. Now you've got me wondering???:confused:

On my computer, whenever I click on a person's name and go to their profile, the name changes to red...to let me know that I've 'seen' it.

 

This happens to thread titles as well, to let me know that I've read the thread.

 

It changes back to blue when my browsing history is cleared.

Ah, a kindred spirit. :) Sometimes I'll tell him something my machine is doing and he looks at me like I have roaches crawling out of my eyes. :confused: Then he says, " I've never seen a machine do that before." :eek: I am incredibly gifted at making machines do things never seen by another human. :cool: Thats with him working for one of the largest school system in Georgia with over 2000 machines. I AM AMAZING! :p

No, it will change when you delete history!

 

When you click on a hyperlink (links to other web pages, your CC id etc), it changes color to indicate that you have visited that link before. It has no other special meaning. :) It will usually change from blue to red after you clicked on it.

Not necessarily. It all depends oon your own personal computers internet settings. Yours are probably set to delete your history every few days, mine are set to clear after every internet session, so mine changes back everytime i close firefox.

 

To the OP: You need to go into your internet options and just delete your history folder as others have said.

Admitting my ignorance. How do you get to your internet history? As you can see, my name is in red, or at least that's how I see it.

Do people also worry about previously visited hyperlinks that turn red once it has been clicked on?

This is funny, another CCr and I were wondering the same thing a few weeks ago (about the red vs blue). She wrote to Cruise Critic and was told that the names will turn red if you look at that poster's profile.

That will clear all cookies and you will have to sign back into any sites where you may be used to being permanently logged in.

 

Doing this often cleans up your computer and it runs a bit faster.....at least it does for me.

That works for Internet Explorer.. what about the other web browsers? :D

 

I don't have Firefox at work so can't give those instructions until I get hom.
