savannahgirl1 Posted February 12, 2009 #1 Share Posted February 12, 2009 Hi, Can anyone tell me how to put my username back to the "normal" blue that everyone else's is in. I'm actually not sure why it went red. All I changed was my avatar from heart w/ fish to clam under umbrella. When I reloaded the page to make sure my new avatar took, my user name was in bright red. Any help would be appreciated, I'm really not the bright red type. :o
pms4104 Posted February 12, 2009 #2 Share Posted February 12, 2009 Your name looks blue to me. Maybe your view of your user name always was red to you and you never noticed that. I've looked at threads where I've posted recently, and my user name comes up red to me. But I'm guessing it's blue to all of you.

I guess I never paid close enough attention, but yes yours is blue to me. Well, thanks. I knew I hadn't touched my signature or user name. I figured I was losing it. :D
Koshlong Posted February 12, 2009 #4 Share Posted February 12, 2009 I just went to several threads to check, and some names are in red and some in blue? I never noticed before. At first I wondered if the colour indicated whether or not a person was online, but the green lights didn't match. Now you've got me wondering???
savannahgirl1 Posted February 12, 2009 Author #5 Share Posted February 12, 2009 Ah HA, I have now drug you into my madness. It can get very lonely down here. :( ;) You know, I think its time for a cruise, I've been on land to long.
msmayor Posted February 12, 2009 #6 Share Posted February 12, 2009 On my computer, whenever I click on a person's name and go to their profile, the name changes to red...to let me know that I've 'seen' it. This happens to thread titles as well, to let me know that I've read the thread. It changes back to blue when my browsing history is cleared. I haven't cleared my browser in a while so that could be it. I still claim to need a cruise. Way to much life over the last couple of weeks. By the way, thank all of you for replying to this thread. I do appreciate it. :)
savannahgirl1 Posted February 12, 2009 Author #9 Share Posted February 12, 2009 The red will go back to blue when you clear your cookies. You know I've almost done that in rough seas. Thank God for bonine. ;) Sorry couldn't resist a sea sick joke. :p Seriously, thank you for the reply, I hadn't even thought of that and thats with my husband being a technology specialist. I should have thought of that. :o
Koshlong Posted February 12, 2009 #10 Share Posted February 12, 2009 That's okay. Mine is one too! I've given up asking him things; no matter what it is it isn't in his area. I would have thought that "Electrotechnology" would cover my picky little computer problems, but no.
HALFans Posted February 12, 2009 #11 Share Posted February 12, 2009 Yep, yep, yep. Clear your browsing history and it'll be back to blue, baby, blue! (Austin Powers...) Now it's not your screen name that's red, is it? :o

Ah, a kindred spirit. :) Sometimes I'll tell him something my machine is doing and he looks at me like I have roaches crawling out of my eyes. Then he says, " I've never seen a machine do that before." I am incredibly gifted at making machines do things never seen by another human. Thats with him working for one of the largest school system in Georgia with over 2000 machines. I AM AMAZING! :p
Boytjie Posted February 12, 2009 #14 Share Posted February 12, 2009 The red will go back to blue when you clear your cookies. No, it will change when you delete history! When you click on a hyperlink (links to other web pages, your CC id etc), it changes color to indicate that you have visited that link before. It has no other special meaning. :) It will usually change from blue to red after you clicked on it.

Luv4dacruise Posted February 12, 2009 #16 Share Posted February 12, 2009 If you do nothing it will change back to blue in a few days. Rich Not necessarily. It all depends oon your own personal computers internet settings. Yours are probably set to delete your history every few days, mine are set to clear after every internet session, so mine changes back everytime i close firefox. To the OP: You need to go into your internet options and just delete your history folder as others have said.
mamaofami Posted February 12, 2009 #17 Share Posted February 12, 2009 Admitting my ignorance. How do you get to your internet history? As you can see, my name is in red, or at least that's how I see it.
Boytjie Posted February 12, 2009 #18 Share Posted February 12, 2009 I don't see what the issue is about a name being red or blue... Do people also worry about previously visited hyperlinks that turn red once it has been clicked on? Cruising-along Posted February 12, 2009 #19 Share Posted February 12, 2009 I don't see what the issue is about a name being red or blue... I kind of like it, makes the page more colorful. :p:D This is funny, another CCr and I were wondering the same thing a few weeks ago (about the red vs blue). She wrote to Cruise Critic and was told that the names will turn red if you look at that poster's profile.

Click "Tools" (In your toolbar) Click "Internet Options" Click "Delete Files" and Click "Tools" Click "Internet Options" Click "Settings" Delete files...... That will clear all cookies and you will have to sign back into any sites where you may be used to being permanently logged in. Doing this often cleans up your computer and it runs a bit faster.....at least it does for me. (Your name appears in blue on my screen. :) )
