Just went to Celebrity website and their itineraries and prices are listed.

I compared starting prices of Celebrity to Holland America using both websites.

I picked the same sailing date to give a fair comparison... July 25, 2010...

What I'm wondering about is where is the "Dockyard" - when we we've gone before we've split time between Hamilton and St. George.

Dockyard is a bit out of the way with transportation available into Hamilton. The bigger ships can't make it into Hamilton or St. George. I also don't understand the two days at sea. Although I like at sea days, Bermuda is the one place that I would prefer to have more time on the island.

Prices will always drop,,,it looks good to have booking with higher values on the books stock wise!

HAL NO WAY!!!! LOL

Not for Bermuda in the NYC Metro area Market !!!!

Also, they expanded the dock at Dockyard to accomodate additional ships. There is a possibility that there could be two or three "BIG" ships in Dockyard at the same time. You can't really walk anywhere from Dockyard except mall/museum/snorkel park, so that is going to be a mob scene as far as getting a taxi or bus to get anywhere on the island.

So true !! It's a disaster now with 1 Ship ie, Explorer of the Seas or the Carribean Princess,

with around 3500 passengers and 1500 crew. Double that and try Catching the# 7 Bus, or Ferry to Downtown Hamilton ????:(

Regardless of the price, with Summit having 3 sea days as opposed to Holland America only 2, giving us an additional day in Bermuda, I'll be looking forward to our 1st Holland America cruise in 2010.

Yeah, but the T-pool is free on the Summit. The wine is a nice perk on HAL, but not enough to make me switch. Celebrity ROCKS!

Yeah, but I understand that the T-Pool, once enjoyed by adults ONLY, now allows children! Too bad! Another step backwards!

My wife and I are checking into going back to Bermuda next year. We already took a cruise with NCL and RCCL and decided those cruise lines were not for us. Then we checked into the much ballyhooed return of Holland America. Then I heard that Celebrity Cruise Line is sending the Summit to beautiful Bayonne, NJ to do the Bermuda run. We have sailed several times with Celebrity and it looks like we will cruise with them to Bermuda. Celebrity gives a good cruise. It is a premuim cruise line and won't be cheap. However, they are one of our favorite lines.

Too bad that you will be missing cruising with HAL to Bermuda! Your loss!

I have cruised with both HAL and X. I would choose HAL any day, hands down!

We are happy to take the Summit to Bermuda--nice ship, & the week we picked is after the kiddies return to school for the most part. Our fare is high but not like the ones for the summer. Stiill we will be saving on airfare & a pre night hotel...

Bermuda has nice ferries & busses esp. if one waits til the crowds disperse...we stayed at a hotel in St Georges & found that to be out of the way as well--- & going to three ports on the same island seems a waste of time to us--so we are just as pease with staying at the dockyard area...

Looks like cruising to Bermuda from NY will be the place to be in 2010...!

I have no problem with docking at Dockyard, but I'll take Veendam's extra day in Bermuda over an extra sea day on Summit. For us, at least, every additional day we can get in Bermuda is a plus.

Bermuda has it's own season for cruising and it is expensive. That is the price you pay for going to Bermuda. Keep in mind that Celebrity gives a really good cruise. I imagine Alaska is the same thing.

Remember, prices tend to change on cruise lines if a sailing becomes popular or unpopular. My take on it is book it. If the price comes down then you get the accommaditions you wanted and you are going where you want to go. If it becomes popular and the prices rise then you may be getting a discount.

Did you know that starting this year, Bermuda will allow cruise ships to have their casinos open after I believe 10:00PM while in port.

I have heard about that on the Travel Show on ABC Radio. Then I spoke to someone from Bermuda and he informed me the government had a change of heart.

I am glad that Bermuda will allow cruise ship casinos to stay open while in port.

No, it is not my loss. I have sailed quite a few times with Celebrity Cruise Line. I know the product that Celebrity puts out. I like that product. Since I have never sailed with Holland America I don't quite know what I'm getting there.

We've been to Bermuda several times when we lived on the East Coast, and my husband suggested I price out a week in a hotel there and all meals...he said it probably won't look so bad after that. Plus airfare will be cheaper there than directly to Bermuda, too.

I've got 16 months to think about it...will put the deposit down.

We've sailed to Bermuda the last three summers. We love Bermuda, and we love cruising. But we also want more than three days in Bermuda for our week of travel.

We're in the process of finalizing plans for our Bermuda trip this summer. We can get $99 one way ($150 w/taxes and fees) from BWI to Bermuda via USA3000. So the airfare will be $600. We used bermudarentals.com to rent a small cottage for $130 per night. It's in the Warwick parish, is air conditioned, full kitchen -- and has a pool. So the cost for the cottage is $910. That puts us about $1000 less than we spend on a cruise. Sure, we might spend that $1000 on food, entertainment and a scooter -- so this isn't going to save any money. But we'll have seven full days in Bermuda.

I'll miss most, but not all, of the cruising experience. We're really excited about getting to spend seven full days in Bermuda.

My only trip to Bermuda was a two week stay in similar accommodations! We loved every minute of it.

My Dh and I are on the way to the TA tomorrow!!! So excited to see celebrity going back to bermuda!!! We love that Island and have missed it since the Zenith stopped going. We were going to try the Veedam next year, but it looks like we'll be sailing on the Summit. I'm going to miss my ten day cruise, but I'm glad there are three sea days on the Summit. Now, if we can only get an aft cabin! Anybody else booking on the July 11th sailing?

I booked a cruise on Celebrity for next March for what I thought was a huge amount and I have been watching the price go up up up. I'm actually beginning to think I got a good deal, but I wonder what happened to all those supposedly Great prices..not so far on Celebrity. I'm planning a second cruise next year and so far for the great prices my TA is bringing are all Carnival which I would really rather not cruise...been there..done that...don't think I want to cruise Carnival again...but the prices are very good for them.

What was it about CCL you did not care for? I have not cruised them yet, but man...their rates are so good I am considering it...as you can see from my sig, I have cruised only those lines, while I think I would say X takes the lead by a slight edge...just love X...:)
