retired1998 Posted July 24, 2009 #51 Share Posted July 24, 2009 DH and I were just on the Caribbean Princess. Believe it or not, they wanted $150 for the tour. I'm not that interested. However, we do eat at the specialty restaurants and enjoy them. 8/99 Alaska –Celebrity, Mercury 8/01 Scandinavia/Russia -Princess 1/05 Western Caribbean –Celebrity, Constellation 10/05 Hawaii –Norwegian, Pride of America 1/07 Panama Canal -Celebrity ,Constellation 8/07 Hawaii- Norwegian, Pride of America 1/08 South America – Celebrity, Infinity 10/20/08 Mediterrean – Celebrity,Century 6/11/09 Eastern Caribbean –Princess, Caribbean Princess URL=http://www.cruisecritic.com][/url]
PaulMedik Posted July 24, 2009 #52 Share Posted July 24, 2009 LOL - i second that! :D hmmm... gonna give it a go on the dream, paul? ;) falkcor, If they offer it on Dream, we'll do it. They will have to wave the age requirement for Britt because he'll still be eight then and I doubt we'd be able to do the tour without him. ;) I wouldn't pay but I know I could count on a wonderful review from Paul. ;-) cathyoo, Thank you. I'll make sure I get video along the way too. :)
BlueJacketsFan1 Posted July 24, 2009 #53 Share Posted July 24, 2009 No, it has all been on the travel channel. I don't really want anyone going to the bridge. I think that cancelling tours of the bridge after 911 was the right thing to do.
firefly4423 Posted July 24, 2009 #54 Share Posted July 24, 2009 sounds pretty cool, but i dunno if Id do it for $
falkcor Posted July 24, 2009 #55 Share Posted July 24, 2009 If they offer it on Dream, we'll do it. They will have to wave the age requirement for Britt because he'll still be eight then and I doubt we'd be able to do the tour without him. ;) i'd bet it'll be on dream from the get-go. just like anytime dining. new on every other ship, but it'll be a standard offering on dream... ya don't have to 'roll it out' when a ship is being 'rolled out' itself :D i'd hope you can get britt on the tour (i didn't even pay attention to the age restrictions - i'm old enough )- because i'd bet he'd enjoy it the most :) i would have definitely enjoyed this much more as a kid than i could ever fathom now. maybe that's one of those aspects that will be 'massaged' as the program rolls out. best of luck to you. i'd write john if this was prohibitive, because i'd love to hear your take ;)
Vacationjunkie4 Posted July 24, 2009 #56 Share Posted July 24, 2009 I'd pay $30, but not $95. Why should it cost so much? I'd raise the limit if I got to see the Captains quarters.
notme1955 Posted July 24, 2009 #57 Share Posted July 24, 2009 I could care less about what goes on behind the scenes. As a matter of fact, I choose to believe it's all magic. However, my DH would most likely be interested. If he wanted to do it, I'd be happy to fork over the money. It would get him out of my hair for three hours! Bases5 Posted July 24, 2009 #58 Share Posted July 24, 2009 Maybe once, but I think this would make one awesome platinum perk. If not letting them do the tour for free once, maybe giving them priority in booking it. On our Sensation cruise in July the galley tour was a platinum perk. I'm sure adding this for a fee the galley perk will disappear. I would do this tour in a heart beat. 3.5 hours on a sea day. Do you realize how much money that would save me not being in the Casino.
Rare finoky Posted July 24, 2009 #59 Share Posted July 24, 2009 I wouldn't pay anything to go behind the scenes.
CRUISEMAMMA Posted July 24, 2009 #60 Share Posted July 24, 2009 I think I would have to pass. I don't take a cruise to see how it works. I take a cruise to enjoy how it works:) Money better spent elswhere.
boxing nut Posted July 24, 2009 #61 Share Posted July 24, 2009 I wouldn't spend $95 on this tour. I could sit at the 2 cent slot machine with $95 and play for 3 1/2 hours and maybe come away with a profit.
pnjkeith Posted July 24, 2009 #62 Share Posted July 24, 2009 Where do we sign up? Never seen this offered, but would do it once.
LHP Posted July 24, 2009 #63 Share Posted July 24, 2009 We saw the bridge last year (by invitation of the Captain)....I have seen the backstage 5 times for the Legend Show....we have seen the galleys. I have been the crew bar.... so I can't see paying $95.00 for it....but I am sure that a lot of people will. I do think it would be neat to add this as a perk for Milestone Reward Members. yogimax Posted July 24, 2009 #64 Share Posted July 24, 2009 $95 is too pricey for something like this.
halos Posted July 24, 2009 #65 Share Posted July 24, 2009 No All I care about is that the ship doesn't sink and that there is a bartender that knows my name. Everything behind the scenes is fine left behind ;)
terri910 Posted July 24, 2009 #66 Share Posted July 24, 2009 Probably would be interested, but not $95 worth. What he said.
mzloolue Posted July 24, 2009 #67 Share Posted July 24, 2009 No, I would not pay $95 for that tour. But I can see why they would do it as it would be additional pure profit.
sistermerm Posted July 24, 2009 #68 Share Posted July 24, 2009 With all the extras and gifts that come with it.... YOU BET!!!
Kcarp Posted July 24, 2009 Author #69 Share Posted July 24, 2009 At first, I thought it was to much money. Now that I think about it; we would do this tour.
joepeka Posted July 24, 2009 #70 Share Posted July 24, 2009 I would definitely do it for that price.... not sure about DW or DD however. :( With the strict security since 9/11, seeing those parts of the ship without being some sort of super-VIP would be worth it to me. 2T4me Posted July 24, 2009 #71 Share Posted July 24, 2009 Just my 2 cents....Nope I wouldn't pay $95 for the tour...Do you know how many DOD's that would total up to:eek::D. If Carnival was smart they would lower the price to get people interested in it before throwing out the $95.
joepeka Posted July 24, 2009 #72 Share Posted July 24, 2009 If Carnival was smart they would lower the price to get people interested in it before throwing out the $95. I would guess that part of the reason for the relatively high price is to hold down the demand. They want to generate some interest in those seldom-seen parts of the ship but I doubt they want hordes of people signing up either. $95 would buy a lot of DOD's but I would do it anyway. :)
Aplmac Posted July 24, 2009 #73 Share Posted July 24, 2009 Having done pretty much the same tour (for free) on an RCL ship I kinda know what to expect, and would like to do it again -on a CCL ship if only for comparison - but I also agree with others than $95 is steep. $50 is more like it. ;) _____________________________ 'Preview of Coming Attractions' at http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=969285 . tulman Posted July 24, 2009 #74 Share Posted July 24, 2009 No way, but I wouldn't pay $5 either. The only thing interesting is the bridge, IMO, and I've done that on several cruises in the past when it was still allowed. Over 20 years ago, on NCL they offered a FREE tour of the bridge. They also had skeet shooting on the upper aft deck, $5 for 5 shots. I hit 4 out of 5! Now....That's what I'm talking about:D
xntric1 Posted July 24, 2009 #75 Share Posted July 24, 2009 If hubby wanted to, sure. Now on my next cruise it will be me and my 2 adult daughters. If they want to, they can pay for it. :D
