Looking for a great itinerary ?

We have found one.

In November, 2017, the Infinity will be going through the Panama Canal and down the west coast of South America.

It starts in Fort Lauderdale , goes to Grand Cayman, then through the canal.

The first port in South America is Manta. We have been to Ecuador, lovely people, great ecological reserves, great beaches. In Manta we are doing the Pacoche forest hike, with its howling monkeys and many species of birds, also going to Montecristi where the Panama Hats originate from.

Second port is Lima , Peru, we are there overnight. Two amazing days in Lima with all its history and culture.

On to Pisco, there we will be doing what they call "the poor man's Galapagos" by going to the Ballastas Islands and then to Paracas National Reserve.

Next is a stop in Chile in Arika. An amazing port where we will visit Geoglyphs, olive groves, Llama caravans etc.

The Cruise ends in Valparaiso, a very colorful , vibrant port.

We have done close to 40 cruises with Celebrity, most to Europe. I had begun to complain about the lackluster itineraries, until I found this one. All these ports are new to us.

Can anyone else recommend an itinerary they think is special?

The Infinity has been doing this South America repositioning cruise from Florida every year, for at least the past decade.

For anybody who books it, I highly recommend continuing on the following leg, a spectacular itinerary heading southward from Valparaiso, then around the Horn and back up the east coast of South America, disembarking at Buenos Aires.

When we did it, we were fortunate to get a stop at the Falkland Islands, but I think they have since taken that "iffy" location off the itinerary.

Falkland Island is on the Antartica itinerary in 2017-fingers crossed we can dock.

4774Papa, thanks for the link to your Japan cruise. We are booked for a cruise in Japan in 2018. I enjoyed your photos and review. It was the first real look at what we will experience.

Thanks again for posting.

Hi there, we just booked the Equinox for April 24, 2017, 11 day cruise. Why is this different? We spend 3 days in New Orleans during their Jazz Festival. It's a one time cruise. The rest of the cruise is Grand Bahama, Key West (always fun), Cozumel and Costa Maya, the main pull here is the time in N.O. Perks include free Wi-Fi, gratuities and beverage package.

This itinerary has existed for the past decade. I am just discovering it.

Wonder what other good itineraries I have missed.

We type in ONLY the date we might be cruising and usually the Celebrity sight will show all the cruises for that period, this way we don't miss any that might be lost by being too specific in our searches. The site has a habit of going way out of bounds on the dates sometimes.

Well I guess this topic has run its course.

Not only is it a great itinerary, but our roll call is the best I have been on. So many really genuine, helpful people. The cruise is 15 months away and we have already surpassed the number of posts that other imminent sailings have.

For those who have not read Papa's review of the Millennium cruise (Tokyo-HK) you are missing something special! We are on this cruise in less than 3 months and Papa's review provide fantastic info. So well written, and we thank you for your time and effort.

Appreciate and understand your previous focus on Europe for sailing/travel purposes. Good luck on your upcoming Panama Canal and South America sailing. Fortunately, cruise lines are looking for new, different and exciting locations to consider. Many people are tired of just the Caribbean and Med. They want more, different, exciting, etc.

Below is a link to a great "adventure" we did on Celebrity's nice Solstice ship for Australia and New Zealand. Check out that live/blog and let me know any added questions, info needs, etc. Below are a few visual samples as "EVIDENCE" that this journey worked out very, very well. When you go that far, it is important to make good, added arrangements in addition to what is done just with the cruise.

Last year, we did and enjoy doing a cruise 1000 miles up and back for seeing the Amazon River, etc., plus earlier this year for South Africa, etc. Lots of good options out there. Happy to help suggest to more aid in spending your money.

THANKS! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio

Enjoyed a 14-day, Jan. 20-Feb. 3, 2014, Sydney to Auckland adventure, getting a big sampling for the wonders of "down under” before and after this cruise. Go to:

http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1974139

for more info and many pictures of these amazing sights in this great part of the world. Now at 150,964 views for this posting.

From amazing Kangaroo Island, 70 miles south of Adelaide in South Australia, here is a picture of two kangaroos doing what they do best on the open plains of this island while we observed at a distance.:

From Port Arthur, the historic Tasmanian penal colony seen during our stop in Hobart, here is just one of the many views for some of the sights there. This gives an overview for a portion of this prison site. This location was nearby to the water area as the prisoners would arrive from England for this “visit”. It took six to nine months to make the journey from England to this distant part of the world.:

From our group's Bay of Islands water fun, we got to do real sailing, including going out into the nearby Pacific Ocean! See the proof and success below. It was both a perfect weather day and such fun sampling this great region of northern NZ. One of the options for those in our Central Ohio group on this custom, private sailing was to help to do as much (or as little as desired) in helping make this sail experience happen. Here you can see Captain Murray guiding the ship from this great vantage point on the back of the Zindabar. Was this exciting and scenic for our group?:

Here is one of my visuals in connection with this steamship sailing leading to the dinner at the sheep station at the other end of this scenic lake near Queenstown. This was during our two-day Solstice excursion to explore so much for the scenic interior of NZ’s South Island. You will see lots of scenic mountains and areas during this sailing that is a key part of this evening fun. And, there was food!! Also on this two-day trip, we did a winery, an old gold-rush town, where bungee jumping started, a rainforest, etc.:

Here is a picture from our New Zealand South Island JetBoat ride that my wife loved so much. From Akaroa, we did a combination ship excursion that included both the rail trip to the mountains/National Park, plus JetBoat. Notice her hands and those of others in our row super tightly gripping the safety bar? That says so much about the speed and thrills while roaring up and down this amazing stretch of scenic river. We've had lots of great moments on this trip, but one was a unique and special ride in a location that is spectacularly world-class near the NZ Southern Alps. And, perfect weather with good friends adds to the great joy!!:

This is Old St. Paul's church in Wellington. It is the former cathedral in the Diocese of Wellington for the Anglican Church. As an example of 19th-century Gothic Revival architecture, they adapted to colonial conditions and materials. It is at 34 Mulgrave Street, close to the New Zealand Parliament. Its construction was completed in June 1866. After a significant battle to prevent its demolition, Old St. Paul's was purchased by the New Zealand Government in 1967 and restored. Although not a parish church, it remains consecrated and is a popular for weddings, funerals and other services. It is constructed from native NZ timbers. The interior has been likened to the upturned hull of an Elizabethan galleon with its exposed curving trusses and roof sacking. The flags displayed in the nave include the Royal Navy, NZ Merchant Navy and US Marine Corps. Many of our Marines were stationed in Wellington during World War II. My wife is in yellow walking down the center aisle as she absorb the building details. This was a very important and "moving" site to experience. :
