Linda - we are not booked on Anthem (yet) in 2016 (I think Alla and Boris are...) In the fall of 2016 we are going on Explorer from Seattle to Sydney. Long cruise....and then the plan is to stay on in Australia for a while and then go to Hong Kong.

Cheryl, have a wonderful time on your fantastic vacation!

from Cruise Critic - Updated, 12:49 p.m. - Anthem of the Seas' current sailing will be cut short. The ship will return to Cape Liberty where passengers will be disembarked. All passengers will receive a full refund and a future cruise certificated worth 50 percent of the cruise fare paid.

In a tweet Royal Caribbean cited forecasted weather conditions as part of the reason for the cancellation. "We're also sensitive to what guests have already been through," the line tweeted.

Linda - what have they told you about your upcoming Anthem cruise?

Received no info. yet. Calls were made to RCI from others on the Roll Call and as of now everything is still a go for Saturday per RCI. No one knows much until the ship arrives Wednesday am and they access the damage. What a wild ride they had for quite a few hours, I feel for the passengers, the elderly, the first timers, who may never cruise again due to the storm. The 500 kids on board, who many were going to Disney World and all the extra clean up for the crew. I'm being optimistic that we'll set sail on Saturday :)

I can't even imagine what a frightening experience it must have been for everyone on board - passengers and crew! And everyone's plans disrupted/ruined. The full refund plus future cruise 50% is a good gesture from RCI. I hope everyone has trip insurance which should be of help with rebooking flights, getting hotels ... Last rough sailing we had was in the Tasmanian Sea on the Radiance crossing from Oz to New Zealand but nothing like what the Anthem passengers went thru. I hope your trip does go and that you have smooth sailing.

I just got off Enchantment of the Seas from a 3 night cruise. I played a total of 15 hours of roulette and they had me at $42 avg bet. I lost a total of $238. I got a rebate of $450 but NO free cruise certificate! That surprised me cause I've played less time ($40-50 avg bet) and won or lost in the range of $500 either way and got free cruises on those. I asked the host Vivian why and how?

She said I didn't lose enough money to get a free cruise certificate. The people who lost $1,800 or more got free cruises. I've never heard anything like that before..I asked how come I WON money and still got free cruises? She couldn't answer that. However I DID figure out that they try to count your winnings/losses and they are not always accurate. There were cruises where I pocketed all my large chips and when I left the table I didn't color up or cash out. I just left. On those cruises I believe they ASSUMED I lost whatever my buy in was. So if I bought it $400 at 5 sessions and didn't color up at the end and they don't see me walking away with chips, they think I lost $2000 when in fact I won. I know this cause one of the cruises she looked me up had me losing when I in fact won! So that's how she said I got free cruises - they had me losing....

So maybe I'm on to something- make them think you lost by pocketing your big chips and not coloring up at the end. LOL

Thanks for the info Nick

My understanding is if you win, you get comped more, they want another pop at your bankroll, they want their money back, so in theory if loss looks small or no loss is monitored on WIN/LOSS more future cruises:)

That has been our experience.

My DW always pockets the chips anyways, she says she likes to collect them for souvenirs.

Happy Days!

Graham,

No news yet on my 2-13-16 sailing, just to soon, Anthem has not arrived home yet in Bayonne. CR said today, it is still a go for us.

Apparently there is another storm in the Atlantic and now Anthem won't be arriving until 9 pm Wednesday in Bayonne. Passengers can stay on board under Thursday am. only. That gives them 2 full days to continue repairs and assess the damage, probably won't hear anything until Friday.

I'm still hoping we're going to sail out on the 13th. Whatever is meant to be, will be :)

I'm hoping for Happy Days, sailing on the 13th :)

I pocket the large cash chips (don't collect black and green and purple cash chips as souvenirs lol.) I cash them in at the cashier at the end :)

Yeah I've received the biggest rebates the more I won. However in some cases, they THOUGHT I lost!! Very strange

My wife and I play the same routine every cruise. So far we've received free or deeply discounted cruises from Carnival, NCL, and HAL. Never a peep from Royal. All the offers are to my wife who plays table games at $5 per bet. I get nothing for my CRAPS play.

Someone earlier remarked about buying in then leaving with the chips without coloring up. Could be that the pit boss cancels your rating when you walk away after a buy in and little play. Seems to me all the casino knows about is your buy in and rate the play. Unless you win enough for a W2-G I don't see how they know how much you won, they're looking at their potential take from your buy-in and re-bet winnings over a period of time.

You are not going to fool them with a big by in then no play.

I don't think that is what Nick means. He's not "buying" a pile of chips and then immediately walking away. He's just messing with their count at the end of the session when he's done playing. They definitely try to figure out how much you have when you leave vs what you started with, at least at the craps table. There was a guy, on my last cruise, who would usually walk away with all his chips and each time they would spend a minute or two figuring out how much he was up or down and then plug it into the computer. Just from watching and listening to the dealers I figured out that he generally started with 4-6k in chips and left when he was down about two or up a lot.

$5 bet on table games is not going to get you invited to CR VIP, you need to be Betting a minimum of $50 a hand over a 3-4 hour period.

Then you get the free cruises and deep discounts and so many other wonderful perks:)

For roulette and craps this would differ.

Happy Days!

Now with the New Program soon to be launched $5 per play, may be rewarded at a certain player level

Well, that level of betting has been enough to get me multiple offers of free staterooms on HAL (insides) or upgrades to outside for $149, balcony for $299 on 7-day cruises.
