Which Rule(s)/Practice(s) would you like to see changed on your Carnival Cruise

Recommended Posts

Its both entertaining and informative learning and reading about the different rules/practices that Carnival has....I would be interested in knowing what people would like to see changed or even implemented

Mine....no shorts in the MDR for dinner on any night....for the sole reason I would like to see a bit more formality in that setting for dinner

I know I'll get flamed for this, but I don't give a damn about what people wear. I think they should ban smoking completely. Someone wearing shorts won't kill you or cause cancer. However second hand smoke can.

Rules are already in place. Enforcement would be nice.

Scooters/wheelchairs/strollers should be stored in the cabins, not hallways.

Enforcement of chair hogs. Better yet, I'd pay a small upcharge to have a guaranteed Serenity bed anytime I wanted.

I like that one, I would 2nd that motion

If there is a rule, it should be enforced. (dress code). If they don't want to enforce a rule, get rid of it. Also, I know that consistency isn't always the easiest thing to do, however, I would like to see better care to try and be as consistent as humanly possible. Example, people that bring fans, some get pulled, and others never have an issue.

How about liquor, that causes liver damage. No one forces you to be amongst smoke.

I am 100% with you, because I am very sensitive to the smoke. I can't go into the casino and even being in the hall outside of it is difficult. I would 100% choose a smoke free Carnival cruise ship if I had a choice.

Question if I may....don't get me wrong, all are entitled to their opinions, but when you go out to dinner at a restaurant, a nice restaurant, do you notice most people wearing shorts?

With all due respect, second hand smoke is very different. No one can get liver damage from someone else who is drinking to excess, but anyone who is bothered by second hand smoke is out of luck. Just walking in the hallway outside of the casino can be hard for anyone who is very sensitive to smoke. Perhaps smokers don't realize that.

Are you joking? How is that even in the same category? Does someone drinking a beer affect you through osmosis? And yes, if you want to gamble then you are forced to be around smokers. How does gambling affect anyone except the person gambling? How does a chair hog affect your health? How does someone wearing shorts in the MDR directly affect you?

There is nothing else here that people complain about that directly affects anyone except smoking (in more than a superficial way anyway)

And I will agree there is a small % of the population that have a negative reaction to cigarette smoke. There is a big difference between not liking something and having a serious physical reaction to something....keep in mind, roughly 20% of adults smoke....the cruise line has greatly catered to the non smoking crowd and wouldn't you agree that roughly 95% of the ship is smoke free. I think the cruise lines have more than accommodated the non smoking crowd....not meaning to sound cold, but stating the obvious....if you have a health issue that serious that you could become that ill by smelling cigarette smoke, why would you book a cruise knowing you could be exposed to it?

I would like to see a floor of the dining room that holds the people to the dress policy and one that doesnt

Excellent idea. Once again it would come down to enforcement of the rules (and those who think rules don't apply to them).

With all due respect. You make absolutely no sense. It's not a question about being FORCED to be amongst smoke. A person smoking in the casino, and has the smoke leave to the promenade deck a person has no control over. Or, a person, disregarding the no smoking on the balcony rule, smokes next to someone who doesn't want to be around smoke isn't being FORCED to be there. They are where they are supposed to be minding their own business. With regards to alcohol and a person's liver, that only, without a doubt affects the drinker liver and no one else's.

This IS a thread for what changes we would like to see, correct? That's what I'd like to see. A non smoking ship.

I've been known to actually walk up a deck to avoid walking by the casino because I don't want to smell the smoke.

I bet if you polled the 80% who don't smoke, most of us would agree that we don't want to be around it and it negatively impacts our cruise experience. Not enough to stay home, but enough to be a negative.

Perhaps smokers don't realize how utterly obtrusive smoke is to a non smoker.

Sensitive to smoke doesn't mean "going to die", by the way.

When your "habit" enters MY body, it becomes my concern.

I would like to see smoking banned from all indoor areas of the ship and all private balconies. I am not a smoker so I cannot understand the addiction, but have smoking areas where it won't infringe upon anyone else being able to participate in something.

As it is now, I cannot use the casino. It is just too smoky for me and gives me asthma attack. Why do the smokers get full use of the casino? It also pollutes the air to all the surrounding areas.

Just have spots outside where people who have to have a smoke can go. That way no one is impacted unless they are perhaps in a cabin directly over it.

I'm not judging the smokers. Lord knows I have my own vices.....candy bars, cookies, cakes etc!! But me being a porker doesn't really negatively affect anyone else, unless I guess there are those who would claim I was an eyesore and ruining their trip......[emoji4]. But of course they are free to just look away, One can only hold their breath for so long when trying to avoid smoke.

Whereas I don't have a health issue and don't become seriously ill by smelling cigarettes, I don't go into the casino, or walk in the smoking areas because I know there will be smokers in those areas. I shouldn't have to not book a cruise because cigarette smoke bothers me and some people feel the rules don't pertain to them...not smoking on the balcony but they do it anyway. I have no control over that, and I shouldn't have to NOT enjoy my balcony because of them, or not book a cruise either.

Bravo to you for standing up for a minority's rights!

Too bad you don't want to protect the minority who want to wear shorts to the MDR.

Protect the smokers but not the shorters? Hmmmm?
