Which Rule(s)/Practice(s) would you like to see changed on your Carnival Cruise

Recommended Posts

How about letting people bring on a 6-pack of beer? Or a pint of whiskey (or whatever) per cabin? Wine drinkers are the only ones who get the advantage of carrying on their alcoholic beverage of choice.

I also like double points for solo cruisers and a section of cabins with smoking balconies.

I smoke and I feel for the people who cannot go into the casino because it is smokey. Maybe they could put up a dividing wall and separate entrance to a part of the casino where there is no smoking.

I would like to see a section of the ship with balconies where smoking is allowed. Maybe on the same side of the ship where there is a smoking area. If the smoking balconies were under a smoking area then the smoke should dissipate before it reached another level.

That's a good idea....maybe 10 balconies on 3 decks deemed smoking rooms and balconies....it would cater not entirely, but somewhat to the smoking crowd, and the non smokers would know where these rooms and balconies are and can plan accordingly if they are that sensitive to smoke, book their cabins as far away as possible....win/win, good compromise

That would never work in the casino. It was like back in the day when the smoking section was half a resturant and they felt a wall would stop the smoke and smell. The casino can be completely empty and if you walk through it still smells like smoke. It would be nice is smoke knew where to stay, but that's simply not the case. As far as your thoughts about smoke dissipating before reaching another level, I can tell you without a doubt that's not the case. When in port, and not moving we were three levels up from the promenade area on the side where smoking was allowed. I kept thinking someone next to me on their balcony, or very near was smoking. Nope, I finally noticed the tables in a jetted out area where people were sitting and smoking on level 5.

Its both entertaining and informative learning and reading about the different rules/practices that Carnival has....I would be interested in knowing what people would like to see changed or even implemented

Mine....no shorts in the MDR for dinner on any night....for the sole reason I would like to see a bit more formality in that setting for dinner

Easy, peasy. Ban all indoor smoking. Period. There is almost nowhere anymore that allows indoor smoking, and many businesses ban smoking anywhere on their grounds. Carnival needs to get with the times. I wonder how Carnival would react if some of their long-time staff sued them for being subjected to second-hand smoke after contracting lung cancer. I truly feel sorry for their casino area workers who spend long shifts day after day in smoke.

And I will agree there is a small % of the population that have a negative reaction to cigarette smoke. There is a big difference between not liking something and having a serious physical reaction to something....keep in mind, roughly 20% of adults smoke....the cruise line has greatly catered to the non smoking crowd and wouldn't you agree that roughly 95% of the ship is smoke free. I think the cruise lines have more than accommodated the non smoking crowd....not meaning to sound cold, but stating the obvious....if you have a health issue that serious that you could become that ill by smelling cigarette smoke, why would you book a cruise knowing you could be exposed to it?

Then problem becomes and for some reason most smokers refuse to say this. Smoking in public places effects the rights of all who wish to use that place. And since it wouldn't be fair take anyone's right to use a place. Then yes ban smoking cause not being able to smoke dosn't take away you right to be somewhere.

To be transparent, I am NOT a smoker, so if the cruise lines implemented a ban on smoking, doesn't bother me at all. I believe most smokers obey the rules, so it's a small % of smokers that you are speaking of. 2nd point, the public places that you speak of are deemed smoking areas by the cruise. Non smokers don't have "the right" of a 100% smoke free environment. That may be their desire, but it is far from "their right".....conversely to your argument, smoking areas doesn't ban a non smoker from entering that area. They may choose not to enter that area based on health or comfort reasons, but they aren't banned from it. It is their choice

I would like to see no dancing in the MDR during dinner by the waiters. The MDR may not be "fine dining" but it is dining. My DH and I do dress a little nicer for dinner and the dancing takes away the ambience. We have never encountered dancing at the restaurants we go to even Chili's or Burger Barn or Trulucks. Carnival is the only cruise line we have seen this. This is just mt opinion.

Texas Roadhouse has dancing. But it's not as fun as Carnival's!

Maybe they should have the traditional dining room observe the dress code, have tablecloths, and keep the dancing. Then have the YTD room be the more relaxed dress code, no tablecloths, and no dancing. That way you can choose which things are important to your dining experience and choose accordingly.

Celebrity has banned all smoking indoors including the casino. They say their ships are designated as non smoking, but they have certain outdoor areas where you can smoke. And there is no smoking on the balconies in case someone wants to say that is outdoors.

Yes! I really like this idea. Then everybody gets what they desire.

Each year the percentage of the population that smokes drops a bit, I hope its education on the dangers of smoking that continues to bring numbers down, but i suspect its the expense and the fact that the tobacco industry kills off some of its best customers each year is part of it too. eventually they will ban smoking inside.

Yet if you look at the stats, the number of smokers in the 18-25 age group climbs each year

Interesting. Where did you see that?

I read teenage smoking is at its lowest point in many years, something around 8%. I don't think suddenly the 18-25 bracket is climbing, especially not with penalties in the form of increased healthcare costs, smoke free work places, non-smoking apartments. Etc.

But, as always, I am open minded to read real data that you can present. Where are these stats?

I don't smoke but I believe over the years Carnival has bent over backward to accommodate non smokers while still making smoking areas available to those who smoke.

This is such an emotional issue that I don't see agreement coming.

The CDC seems to disagree.

I believe there is a justified worry that vaping in young adults will reverse the progress made in reducing the number of addicts in America.

Duly noted, the article I was reading took into the e-cigs with regular cigs, where it mentioned an upswing among young smokers. I should have clarified, my bad
