Which Rule(s)/Practice(s) would you like to see changed on your Carnival Cruise

Recommended Posts

Hmmmm....The Columbia restaurant here in Tampa has nightly Flamenco dancers and its a very tony place. There are a few very nice Greek restaurants in Tarpon Springs with traditional Greek dancers on the weekend. I would say a floor show is a mark of a finer restaurant.

Not sure I would categorize Columbia as "tony." Great food, definitely. But not upscale IMHO. I am glad the one in Celebration has no dancing, it is way too loud in Ybor to enjoy a meal.

I'm sure it is not the wait staff on podiums gyrating to Gangnam Style while your food gets cold waiting to be served.

I would change the rule that both people over 21 in the cabin have to purchase cheers. And enforce the chair hog rules.

I agree with this. I am not a drinker and my husband is. We don't buy this package ever. If they changed the rule then he would purchase it and at least they have made some revenue off of him. The way it is now he won't purchase as many individual drinks, so a loss of revenue for Carnival.

I also read someone said they'd like the drink coupons back, we did purchase these and it worked out great. Again more revenue for Carnival.

The other suggestion I liked was if they want both people to buy a package give us choices. One person can have the alcohol package and the other could buy a non alcohol package. Again more revenue for Carnival. After all isn't that what it's all about ;).

And yes enforce the chair hog rule. It is frustrating on sea days when you can't get a chair anywhere near the pool. (it makes us drink less :p too)

I'd like to see a new pricing policy that charges passengers based on weight. The heavier one is the more it costs to transport them, the more they eat, and thus the more waste product they produce. ON many levels a heavier person is much more expensive to have on a cruise than a lighter person.

Judging from the diners reaction it seems to be a very popular feature. It looks like the waitstaff for the most part enjoys it as well, a nice break from their humdrum duties. I've seen many passengers get up and join the dancers too. The MDR has all the ambience of a Luby's warehouse cafeteria, so I can't think how a little music and lights can ruin the dining experience. Better to go to the Steakhouse if you feel that way.

I would be thrilled if they got rid of it.

They should ban smoking completely. Everything else has in North America. Surprised the cruise industry hasn't jumped on board yet. Or at least try to run a monthly cruise that is smoke free to give people that don't want smoking a chance to cruise smoke free.

How about liquor, that causes liver damage. No one forces you to be amongst smoke.

Not true on my last few cruises I have been unable to get away from the smoke. It seems to be everywhere. They even had a smoking area right off the lobby! At least you have a choice whether you lift a glass to your lips and swallow the contents. You have no choice whether to take a breath and they're literally has been nowhere on the ship where I could take a breath without smelling cigarette smoke on my last few cruises with Carnival which is why after 23 cruises with Carnival I have cruised my last 2 cruises with Norwegian! At least there the only place I smelled cigarette smoke was in the casino.

And I will agree there is a small % of the population that have a negative reaction to cigarette smoke. There is a big difference between not liking something and having a serious physical reaction to something....keep in mind, roughly 20% of adults smoke....the cruise line has greatly catered to the non smoking crowd and wouldn't you agree that roughly 95% of the ship is smoke free. I think the cruise lines have more than accommodated the non smoking crowd....not meaning to sound cold, but stating the obvious....if you have a health issue that serious that you could become that ill by smelling cigarette smoke, why would you book a cruise knowing you could be exposed to it?

Also untrue. ANY amount of cigarette smoke exposure is bad for your health and should not be forced upon someone against their will. To say that someone should be required to give up their health in order to go on a vacation is totally wrong and it is only a matter of time until they finally Outlaw smoking in all public areas. They already do so in many states.

Carnival Paradise in 1998....Smoke Free for roughly 5 years....lost revenue....one of the main reasons given to why they scrapped the idea is on the whole, non smokers don't drink and gamble as much as smokers do....like it or not, it's always about the $$$$

What's untrue? Roughly 20% of US adults do smoke. You wouldn't agree that Carnival has taken steps to ban smoking in the vast majority of public spaces? In theory, you don't have to be exposed to it if you choose not to go near the public smoking areas and the casino. Are there rule breakers, yes, and Carnival has penalties put in place to deal with them

For those that don't know this, Carnival Paradise was a 100% non smoking ship. It wasn't making money, so it was changed. Maybe some of you that want a smoke free ship should have been sailing on the Paradise.

I have to go with enforcing rules that are made. If they don't want to enforce them, then get rid of them.

First it should be noted that the Carnival Paradise was a non-smoking ship 20-30 years ago when there were a great deal more smokers around. And indeed I would have sailed on her if she had sailed out of any port other than LA. There's just so many times a person can enjoy visiting Ensenada! It should also be noted that since that time California has outlawed smoking in all public facilities including bars and yet these facilities seem to do a booming business despite this rule.

It wasn't 30 yrs ago....the Paradise inaugurated in 1998 and operated smoke free until 2003.

Its both entertaining and informative learning and reading about the different rules/practices that Carnival has....I would be interested in knowing what people would like to see changed or even implemented.

I'd like 1 pool/splash pad area for non-toilet trained kids. Disney does this by adding a special filter just for their splash works area. Obviously my kid will still wear swim diapers and I'm not asking for use of ALL pools, just one area per ship. If Disney can manage this I don't think it would be a huge expense or inconvenience for Carnival to get up to speed.

That's my Change.

I'd like to see a complete ban on smoking, children, photography and karaoke.

And meat, so that all dining options would be vegetarian. The bars would all have flair bartenders and alcohol (and all specialty drinks) would be free. There'd also be a smoothie bar.

There'd be no prerecorded music, just live funk music all the time.

The gym would offer lessons in pole-dancing, parkour and aerial acrobatics.

The spa workers would work under a vow of complete silence.

Formal night would be replaced with paintball.

Stewards would dress like Imperial Stormtroopers.

People would be encouraged to bring their cats.

I wonder if it's too late to switch careers and become a cruise director...

I'm ok with everything except the no meat part. I need my Guys Burger and steak!

My cat and I will be there. Can the women accept tips from fellow cruisers for showing off our pole dancing skills? I kinda would like to earn a few extra bucks for the casino [emoji6]
