Andrew is 14, and he could be in high school (9th grade here) now, but we delayed his start in kindergarten since he has a summer birthday. We're very glad we did. 

Very popular here for parents to delay sending their boys to kindergarten by a year. Better to do it at the start of their schooling than have to repeat a year down the track.

If Andrew  was in Australia, he would be in High School.  Students here start High School aged approx 13.   First year of High School is Year 7.

Final year of High School is Year 12.

After graduating Year 12, next step is University.

(Alternatively, students can opt to leave High School at the end of Year 10 and start an apprenticeship for a trade)

We were in the city to see the Fleurs De Villes display on at the Botanic Gardens.  This year’s theme was VOYAGES.

It was a lovely sunny Sunday in Sydney today.

Went into the city & we saw lots of fit looking people walking around the city with medals around their necks.  Had completely forgotten the City2Surf fun run was on this morning.  80,000+ entrants running/jogging/walking the 14km from Sydney CBD to Bondi Beach.

Beautiful Saturday in Sydney yesterday.  Did a guided 1.5hr wattle walk in the wildflower gardens  followed by walking Max for 3hrs so DH & his friend could watch the Olympic Marathon in its entirety in peace (Max gets over excited when we have visitors).

@Momof3gurlz Sorry your 2 month old grandbaby is battling a fever.  Wishing the family well, while they recover to together in the family suite in the hospital.

We have ABLV in bats in Australia.  Related to rabies.  

Not happy with the new monthly charge either but I find this card so good for my overseas travel and with no suitable  alternatives, I plan to keep it for the time being, even though I have no trips planned for this year.

I have an UP card as a back up but that is loaded with my own money.

@Sea Dog sorry you missed a week’s worth of outings due to illness.  We only get to watch a hour or two of the Olympics each evening after work so our viewing has been limited.  What events have you enjoyed watching the most?

The kayaking & the high jump have been my favourites so far.  I missed the swimming, gymnastics and pole vault - which are usually my favourite events to watch.

@Ozark_Kid Finley’s Disney outfit is so adorable.  She is a cutie.  I hope the Utopia cruise goes well for you.

We didn’t go to Whitewater Beach with Ocean rafting.  Just to a deep water spot off one of the islands.  Snorkelled for a while then re-boarded, headed into a sandy beach for a box snack and brief swim off the beach then it was back on board for the trip back to Airlie Beach wharf.  The  itinerary for Ocean Rafting out of Airlie was shorter for cruisers.  If you stay in the area, they offer more stops snorkeling stops during your excursion.  We still had an enjoyable time though.

We did both.  Ocean Rafting through Carnival from Airlie Beach and then the pontoon at Port Douglas.  Agree with the majority to do the pontoon.  So many colourful fish and the water was crystal clear, The day we travelled out to the pontoon, the boat  ride was as smooth as -  it was like a lake.  The ride out on the Ocean Rafting inflatable was bumpy.

As he was growing up, I told him that I was his parent, not his friend, and that when he was a grown-up, then we could be friends.... and now we're to that point in our relationship and I'm loving it!

Moms and their sons  ❤️.  So nice you are past the hard yards of parenting and now into the just enjoying each others company.

I think my DH has turned into OB (without the medical degree).  We are already booked to spend a night in a lighthouse for our land vacay early next year  and now he wants to book another lighthouse stay at the end of our trip (instead of visiting Melbourne).

@brillohead I had noticed you hadn’t posted in a while, so nice to see an update from you.  Enjoy your museum visits with your son.  I think our sons are similar ages.  Always special to spend time with them.

@DaniDanielle I am so sorry your granddaughter is so unwell.  Adding my best wishes for her recovery.

Our first cruise was Christmas on Rhapsody.  I decorated our cabin door with big Christmas decorations stuck on with blue tak.  Thankfully they stayed there for 9 nights.

Sorry the marvel magnets were taken.  That would be upsetting as they would have been unique & special.

@aussielozzie18  Wow...that's a lot of sand that was lost in the storms!  Will they perhaps do some dredging, to help to replace what was lost?  We've watched dredging in Naples when our beaches needed sand replenishment.  (The beach does look pretty with the exposed rocks, though...🥰)

I think they are hoping it will naturally recover over time.  Kids were having a lot of fun jumping off the new big sand hills further along the beach and over the newly exposed rock platform, that’s for sure.

@Ozark_Kid so glad she is home.  So upsetting seeing the little ones so unwell.
