  1. Princess, Celebrity and Royal Caribbean, as well as some other lines, all have ships positioned in Australia during the southern hemisphere summer, generally November through to March. We did a Princess Sydney to Auckland cruise 16 yrs ago but organised our own long haul and internal flights along with Barrier Reef, Ulhuru, Sydney and Auckland highlights through Trailfinders, and very enjoyable it was, despite BA c*****g up our outbound flight.
  2. It does appear there is a desire today from the woke brigade, that all minority groups should be treated equally. As a result society seems to be being pressured to go out of their way to accept this philosophy. Whilst I do not think they should have to face some of the discrimination they do from extreme groups, equally I am not comfortable with being constantly reminded about it by the media.
  3. But they do have to compete with MSC cruises from Southampton, whose pricing policy seems even more radical that P&Os.
  4. Strangely enough we walked straight off Iona on our last cruise at 8:30, and the baggage hall was not crowded at all, and I managed to grab a porter after only a 5 minute wait, and we were on our way home by 9:15, very relaxing it was.
  5. Each to their own, however we like to be off the ship by 8:30 - 9:00am, then, traffic permitting, we can be home by early to mid afternoon. To be loitering around a gradually emptying cruise ship I find to be a very depressing experience.
  6. I wonder if this will limited to the older ships, there was no sign of a Peninsular cocktail party on Iona last month.
  7. But if they could find something more profitable for the interior cabin space, then I imagine they will.
  8. Do Caribbean also have a loyalty lunch currently?
  9. With the recent high OBC give aways, the loyalty discount has had little or no value on our 3 post covid cruises. I think our total spend over the 3 was about £30, not much you can buy with £3.
  10. I believe the supportive posters are assuming that P&O having a more formal dress code system leads to higher cruise sales. I think they may have a point, since P&Os dress code does encourage all MDR diners to dress up, whereas when Celebriry dropped the dress code and changed formal nights to evening chic, the numbers dressing in black tie formality dropped significantly, mainly IMO because they didn't want to become a minority.
  11. How do you manage to frighten someone into giving up their seat????
  12. Did he accuse you of copying his case????😊
  13. There is a desire by many posters to foster the idea that cruise ships are giant petri dishes. We have made almost 40 cruises now, never had noro on any of them, and not had covid on our 3 post covid cruises.
  14. Does the Olive Grove on Iona have 2 menus? We had the same one on ours, but there was about 10 days between the 2 occasions so the menu could have changed back.
  15. I dont know if those cabins do suffer from a noise spillover from the clubhouse, I was just suggesting that they might have a problem.
  16. Poland borders Ukraine, Estonia is well north of Ukraine, and until there is an uprising against Putin in St Petersburg, then I think it unlikely that a stray missile is likely to hit Tallin.
  17. You're not disembarking early enough David.😉
  18. The suitcases are always stood on end to save floor space, so if you tie your yellow ribbon round the top handle, it should be visible.
  19. On Britannia, apart from the cabins forward of the fwd stairs, none have a view straight down to the sea,
  20. I would guess that your saver fare will be priced on the HF grade cabins, which are fwd on deck 15, although this location is high and fwd it is not a bad location as the fwd area does not have any overhang above it, and will have either cabins or Epicurean and the 2 suites above them, which should be relatively quiet. By looking at the deck plans you can see that most upgrades above HF will likely be fwd or aft, and the only noisy ones are likely to be the HE ones aft on deck G which are above the live lounge.
  21. One good tip to help you quickly find your luggage is to make it easy to identify. Lots of different ways from buying fancy straps to wrap round each case, or tying distinctive ribbons around the top handles, or buying brightly coloured luggage which is not too popular. However since lots of luggage looks similar, even when you have found what you think is yours, is to check carefully the cabin number on the P&O luggage label or your own personalised luggage label. This will save you ending up halfway home when someone rings to tell you they have your suitcase and suspect you have theirs.
  22. I have experienced that issue as well, I think I found one of Adobe option buttons says fill and sign, which opened up that facility.
